Nice idea Andrew, but sadly I have far too many LNER/constituent locos/stock in my "would like" list to remotely consider adding a foreigner that I would have to fund.

Hello I don't want to cause you any alarm but did you fit the support part no 1078 under the top of the tanks? It isnt shown in the instructions I believe. I have pointed it out a few times to people. It has to be fitted when you form the sides as it connects to the sides and the tank tops. See the attached photo.

No alarm Mark, and to be fair, I can't see the any benefit from fitting that particular part as there is a very large stretcher between the two sides that you attach that part to that seems to do the same job! Appreciate the mention of it though

Some people like to fit it it does give you a firmer tank top but you can live without it.
Having built a few of Dave's kits I have fallen foul of a few of his errors so I just like to pass on the knowledge if I can.
Watch your boiler is cut out properly to the later ones had a radius in the corner where as the older ones don't. They were cut with a 90° corner.

The boiler/smokebox barrel won't be used as I shall make my own. There are a few omissions from the instructions of most of the kits, which Dave will always try to update, but with the quality of what is on offer then I think he can be forgiven.

£323 for this kit and you make your own boiler and smoke box! May I ask why?
If I remember correctly I think the boiler and smokebox is turned from a brass tube. A superb heatsink so I think if I was making the kit I'd seriously contemplate replacing it with a rolled nickel-silver one. It'll make soldering the details on a lot easier!
