Thought I’d better say Good day, been on RMweb for a while. Watching Pencarrow brings me here yet to poke around the topics and see what’s here.
Modelling 4mm 00.
Currently scratch building Wantage Tramway Jane No5, from reduced 7mm plans from MRJ 114 to 123 from 1999.
Have a rough test track, once Jane and some rolling stock kits are complete it will be turned into my take on the famous Bredon RM Sept 1981 and July 1985.

Welcome, Ade! As you may have noticed, Western Thunder's main currency is photos. Take lots of piccies of your modelling and share it with us, and you’ll fit right in.

Welcome along Ade. I see you've located the Pencarrow thread!

WT is a much smaller forum and a much higher proportion seem to be occupied with making stuff, particularly in the larger scales. As such you'll find the posting pace slower and more considered IMO.

Be sure to set up a thread to show your work, I bet there will be a few folk interested in what you are doing. Include plenty of photos.

Welcome Ade. It is always good to see scratch building. I am in two minds whether to mention that the drawings of Jane in MRJ are very inaccurate. I have just found you build thread on RMWeb and fear it may be too late. The major problem with the MRJ drawings (both the original version and the 'corrected' version) is that the cylinders are too large. The later editions of The Wantage Tramway by Reg Wilkinson have an early drawing and the GWR diagram which are both accurate. The Pendon model also looks correct in the cylinder area. Anyway, keep scratch building.

Ummm well I’m over scale anyway in that department by a good 18 inches in width! As my connecting rods nessesataed, TBH they were a pain and still not right now ( right hand piston tube not parallel to the rods. Got to sort next) but they’re staying! Want to get it done running and move on to something else learned a lot.
Cheers for the input though.

Forum police have been out on RMweb, any mention of Western Thunder on Chris’s Pencarrow thread have been deleted by a moderator. Seriously! Feel like bunging all mine on here from now on.
Peace
PS I hope this doesn’t get deleted for similar reasons.

That is sooooo petty.

Doubtless serious contributors will make the only obvious move.:)

PS Don't mention the war. I did once, but I think I got away with it.

It won't get deleted but as Dave mentions we don't know the reasons for the action on RMWeb nor do I have any interest in speculating either. There's no problem mentioning or linking to interesting modelling on RMWeb I like to think we are mature enough to recognise that each forum have their own communities of interest and quite happy to highlight good modelling where-ever it can be found but I'd prefer to leave any of the "politics" and baggage over there and just concentrate on the modelling over here.

My RMweb thread was locked at my request and the last 2 pages of ramblings (which had little or nothing to do with the layout) were also deleted at my request.

Absolutely nothing sinister, Andy York just doing as requested and certainly no anti-WT intentions.

Like Adrian says there should be no issue cross referencing or mentioning either forum. Many folk are members of both after all.

My plan to maintain just one forum thread for Pencarrow was mentioned on here a few weeks back. Having decided to post my modelling content mainly on here I asked for the RMweb thread to be locked to stop it filling up with junk over time. The recent pages that added nothing were removed.

That's all, stand down from Devcon 1 people ;)

Brilliant thanks for clearing that one up Chris.
Just a shock to me as a newcomer to get a notification your post has been deleted 3 times.
And I knew they were only in reference to WT.
Although I would say if someone had not of mentioned it there I would of never found this wonderful forum.
I was leaving it I had no more to add.
Peace ✌️ out.

Welcome Ade, from another defector..

I was looking at building a Forest of Dean layout over here on WT,but i`m having a serious wobble at the moment having brought a couple of Wantage Tramway books,so now i`m thinking of a small 7mm layout based around the Lower yard in 45'-46'. (voice in head say`s; Oh no not again!)

look forward to seeing what your up to.

Cheers,
Brian.
