It's the journey, not the destination and you seem to be making it a very enjoyable one.

Yes, really enjoying taking my time with no deadlines. Lots of experimentation on these last few buildings which is fun. At least I'll have something to show at Taunton in 4 weeks!

This provender store will be modelled with the doors open. I therefore decided that a hint of roof truss was required...

Two layers of 60thou with a start of an upright.

Though the doorway without the roof...

And with.

The ends have also had the louvres cleaned and trimmed plus some plywood added between the black framing.

Boiler intakes.

???????

Modern marine boilers are enclosed in two relatively airtight boxes known as the inner and outer casings. Air is sucked in from high up the superstructure by the forces draught blowers and forced into the space between the casings, this warm warms the air before it passes through the registers (a register is a burner) and it then exhausts through the funnel.

The louvres are to prevent the ingress of water and spray.

Gas turbines use a similar arrangement, but more complex.

Just 4 doors to make, two barge boards, one finial, two gutters and two downpipes left now. Then it's the excitement of a coat of primer and some paint.

Will be an interesting mix of materials: concrete blocks, concrete slab, steel frame, wrinkly tin, plywood, corrugated asbestos, timber and cast iron.

Should keep me busy at some point!

Well, the works inspector came down from Exmouth Junction and looked over the nearly completed provender store. Bad news was that although he was happy with the blockwork, concrete base and tin cladding, the roof did not pass muster.

Failed on gable end extensions being 8" to short (yes, he got his measuring stick out) and the front /rear extension being 3" too little. The instruction was given to take it all off and start again.

Harsh man!

So take two:

Just lightly tacked on to get the end overlaps equalised.

Too late, a certain retired Building Control Officer ( who shall remain nameless ) and follows this thread has already seen it !

I'm told he does enjoy a nice piece of cake before making his decisions.
Not that it would sway him being a modeller himself :))
