Then the laser cut roofing slates were added using slightly diluted PVA ...

Ridge tiles were Slater 7mm paving cut down the middle to fold over the joins, then round top Plastikard down the centre....

Chimney stacks were finished off with lead flashing....

Very nice Larry.

Shame it has to be so close to the back scene as it rather spoils the effect, but compromises have to be made in all areas of the hobby.

I know P A D. I figured that if the building was right up against the backscene there would be less shadow than if it was a foot away. Many a layout begins to look wanting once it appears under the scrutiny of the lens, but plenty of room to move around in the shed has always been a priority.

The half-round guttering in the kit was used. Construction is complete now apart from chimney pots. Doors and windows will be fitted after painting...

A general view. This end of the station is being modeled on Trevor. The backscene is a new one (yet to be stuck in place). Two variants were bought for the other end, but choice will be determined by appearance once a proper overbridge has been put in position. Two over bridges and a signalbox yet to be built....

Part of the sound equipment....Boris and his missus provide authentic seaside sounds. Like domestic pets, they seem to enjoy the company of humans, and the female (especially) sits around all day when I'm pottering about in the shed and when Mrs.G is sunbathing...

I've been following you excellent layout build, and oh how I can't wait to retire to have so much time! The super-elevation, although subtle really looks the dogs bits!! The buildings are quite suited to the location and are of excellent quality.

Regards, Deano.

I decided to get one of the bridges built and out of the way today. A single-track arch design was drawn up on a sheet of 30thou Plastikard, but this was changed to stone pillars and a girder after looking at bridges on the Llangollen line. In fact, I loosely copied the one at Dolgelley. Wills plate panels were glued on the 'template' first...
WEB bridge 1.jpg

The girder was then surrounded with 30thou Plastikard...
WEB bridge 2.jpg

More scraps of 30thou were added to thicken things up...
WEB Bridge 3.jpg

Wills SSMP200 stone cladding was then added...
WEB Bridge 4.jpg

The wooden street wall was made from laser cut wood valance and detailed with Plastikard...
WEB Bridge 5.jpg

Vertical pillars were added and other parts to complete...
WEB Bridge 7.jpg

Some of the rivet detail....
WEB Bridge 6.jpg

In place at the platform ends. It needs to be made 3-dimensional yet.....

Re the bridge at Dolgelley, a photo was taken for tourist publicity of the town which included the bridge. But someone had put out their washing line which ruined the picture with all those bloomers swaying on the breeze.

Looking, good, Larry

Path to station. I took the length off the path at Carrog (about 25 feet). It is all removable at the moment 'cos the backscene needs mounting first. The path is tapered to the top, as everything is designed to give an illusion of length and distance...

EDIT:
New I D Backscene now mounted.

A string of Wills Random Stone sheets was glued together last night and were ready for cutting and shaping this morning. But first of all, the timber was screwed firmly to the baseboard. 1/8" cork was also glued to the top for a road surface....
WEB Path 2.jpg

Slaters 7mm Paving slabs were glued to 80 thou Plasatikard to make edging slabs. They were rounded off on the outer endge before being glued to the top of the wall (but not the cork). This is becasue the wall remains movable so it can be painted separately...
WEB Path 3.jpg

The ground was pre-prepared with real ash stuck down with neat PVA. By BR days, such 'crannies' were fertile ground for all sorts of railway stuff, not to mention a starting signal....
WEB Path 4.jpg

7mm scale GWR spear fencing now required. Is this available in etched brass I wonder....?

Opened the shed up early morning to keep cool but then everything went pear shaped and nothing was done today. That said, one of the excellent Dapol B-set's arrived today thanks to the generosity of a very good friend. Obviously I just had to take a photo to see how a train would look on the layout....

Larry, now you understand why there is little progress on Moor Street. High of 39°C today. Those B sets are nice, are they not?

The bridge and retaining wall were painted today. But because the bridge is on a skew against the incoming light from the door and windows, it look darker than the wall. I think it will need some rebuilding this weekend to skew it more favorably towards the light...

WEB Bridge 10.jpg

Shown side by side to prove they match. Steam-era smoke to be added....
