Prototype Beattie Well Tank 30587

On Saturday we took an Aussie visitor friend along to Locomotion.
New on the scene and available is a Beattie Well tank so I took a few detail shots. My main camera is packed so I was using a compact camera which unfortunately had the date/time stamp enabled. This in my view detracts from the images. None the less I hope that they are of some value to some of you.

Yes, 30586 was scrapped, although it may have been a parts donor for the other two. I believe it was withdrawn in December 1962 but not scrapped (at Eastleigh) until the end of March 1964. That delay between withdrawal and scrapping may have been because it was, indeed, a donor or simply that Eastleigh Works had too many locos in the scrap line to keep up with them.
