Soon...I'm having to take some deep breaths before attacking the stock with weathering powders etc. Several of the members here <cough!> have set a rather high bar in that regard!

No need to worry, Chris. Given the fact that the layout in its present state is so sublime, there's no doubt in my mind that the stock will match.

Top stuff.

Rob.

Thank you for all the kind comments and likes.

The ambient lighting (including the starlight) and the ambient sound are all controlled using an Arduino Mega. The more I delved into Arduino the more possibilities I discovered and I've been spurred on to make progress with the random shunting order generator which is initiated from a small (320x240pixel) touch-sensitive LCD panel mounted into the front fascia:

Pressing 'Start' generates a random shunting order for 5 wagons which is displayed on the next screen:

As the wagons are shunted into the correct position, they're marked as such using the touch-sensitive screen:

And once all 5 wagons are marked in position, a new random shunting order is automatically generated:

...Mon Dieu!...........

As usual, many thanks for all the comments and likes.

In between coding the Arduinos, I've finished the goods shed which now sports a roof and bay doors and have connected up the lighting:

Still lots of detailing to be done but at least it allows for some long views looking towards the traverser:

as well as the entire layout (final fascia still to be applied):

Thank you for all the motivating comments.

Before risking a piece of rolling stock, I thought it best to practice some weathering techniques and products (Vallejo German camouflage black acrylic, MIG/AMMO white and buff oil brushers, AK Interactive railroad washes and crusted rust deposits) on a few more disposable items:
