Work at Crymlyn A Shop today has involved fitting cylinder cladding, front & back cylinder covers and the front and rear buffer plank support brackets.

The lower slide bars have also been attached to the slide bar support brackets.

Some packing is needed for the top support brackets and advantage was taken for a quick picture while the Foreman was searching in the stores for something suitable.

That's a very tidy job, it just looks unusual with the low cylinder centre line, lower than the axle centres. The crosshead seems a little lightweight as well. Although I had a look at the prototype photos so it'll be a little different once the casing above the cylinder is fitted.

You found a better photo than I did and it does seem so. Perhaps it's model photo is misleading from the position it was taken.

This is my inspiration. Notice the red background cab side plates although the builders plate appears to be black. Swindon ex works in 1951.

Next job is the front and back of the upper cylinder extension covers, not supplied, which looks a bit odd with just a side plate which is supplied.
