The Crymlyn A Shop foreman has gone to the bank to get the boyos wages.

They have all been working hard to finish the Andrew Barclay contract locomotive 1140.

They have taken advantage of the foreman’s absence to sneak a quick cuppa.
I took advantage of his absence to take a quick photograph of its progress.

Interested to see the rear handbrake housing painted red. None of my colour photos of 1140 show the rear of the loco and on all of the b&w photos, it is impossible to discern a colour difference. Is the red paint speculation or based on info received?

Speculation, I'm afraid but looking at the slight difference in tone with b&w pics...…. I'd like to think so. Even in black BR livery, with the red backed number plates and buffer planks, it almost looks colourful. Brake levers, reversing gear and inside the frames were painted red as standard and I've seen similar industrials' brake standards painted red.
That reminds me, I must remember to paint the reversing rod red.
