1140 Update 6.

Today in Crymlyn A Shop the final touches have been applied to the Andrew Barclay contract locomotive 1140.
The smokebox number plate and the warning bell have been added.
There was a minor panic in the stores when Dai Larfin, the store person, couldn't find the specially commissioned bell!
However with the help of Percy Veerance and Baldrick, the A Shop Gofor, it was unearthed and, with great ceremony, fitted in front of the cab.
The locomotive is seen here shunting part of the Welsh Connection private owner wagons at Graig Wen Colliery.
We notice that the shed plate (87D) is yet to be fitted.

Can I ask who is the supplier of the Bell please? I need a couple myself!

Thanks Chaps!
The Cornwall Model Boats link looks very promising. There was a variety of bell shapes on the Swansea Docks locos so I should be able to 'ring the changes'!

Thanks Steph. The bells listed on this site look the correct shape and even have the fancy frames. My only worry is the size. These were diminutive locos and a bell that is too large would just not sit right. I'll bookmark the site and review the situation when I get to the fitting. Some of the bells swung in the frames and some were fixed with the clapper operated from the cab.

The Precision scale bells will be 1:48 scale and will naturally appear smaller in 1:43.5. Apologies is you are already aware of this.

I would hazard a guess the 7 mm bell in the catalogue would be suitable either 40828 or 1511 on page 26.

Thanks for the reminder Dave. I had forgotten about the scale difference but, in this case, I'm assuming that the values of e.g. 7mm refer to a bell mouth diameter so the scale is largely irrelevant.
