Last year the S7 Group held a competition for building a wagon from a Peco kit... any kit, any way... provided that the wheels conformed to S7 standards. Judging of the competition was at the October meeting at Mark in Somerset and the Judge was Steve Flint (editor of Railway Modeller). As the competition was "judged" to have been a success the S7 Croup Committee has decided to run a similar competition this year.
The current issue of the S7 Newsletter, issue no. 99 published February 2015, outlines the objective of the pending competition and the rules for entrants. Judging of the competition is to be at the S7 Group AGM which is being held at the Warley MRC on 20th June 2015.
In summary:-
* build a wagon from a 7mm kit, the wagon to have wheels to S7 standards;
* the wagon to be an "open wagon" which can / could have been seen on a railway in the United Kingdom;
* the wagon to have been made by a person who is a member of the S7 Group at the time of judging;
* the wagon(s) entered into the competition on the day of the AGM;
* a person can enter more than one wagon, each wagon being considered as a separate entry.
Wagons whose construction has started before today are acceptable provided that the wagon complies with all other rules of the competition.
Finally, at this point there are some aspects of the competition which are to be decided... none of those aspects are going to get in the way of kit construction for the competition!
S7 Group members can read more about the competition in the current issue of the Newsletter or online.
regards, Graham
