Well, we have all done it haven't we? I can only go back to blue diesels and the last of the Deltics but today we go back to April 1936, May 1937 and a quick visit to the May 1938.
There are two dozen views of mostly ex GN and ex NE loco's with a few group standards.

As usual, copyright with me but WT'ers feel free to use for personal stuff but if you wish to repost/publish shout up and I'll try and get you a better scan.

Compared to Goathland, York is very upmarket as can be seen by the proper little water tank catching the drips. Goathland had to make do with a barrel. (see Whitby thread).

?523 is a J6. If my info is correct the first number ought to be a 3 for this period, so it may well be 3623, as the GNR numbering ran from 536 up to 640.

H&BR N12 2483. From October 1936 to withdrawal in July 1938 she was hired to the Derwent Valley Railway, returning to York shed at the weekend for boiler washouts etc. She also seems to be missing a buffer ......... 2/5/37
