Prototype A day out on shed at Llandudno Junction

It is Sunday 29th May 1938 and our intrepid photographer is on shed at Llandudno Junction.

Once again the print quality is a bit variable after nearly 80 years so if you want me to rescan anything please shout.
Also, if you have anything to add to my rather sparse captions (loco allocations, withdrawal dates etc) please feel free to chip in.

Llan Jnc Shd 01.jpg "Sirocco" awaits the inevitable.

Llan Jnc Shd 02.jpg
2P 658 tries to exert a bit of Derby influence. Possibly a glimpse of a Fowler 2-6-2T in the background.

Llan Jnc Shd 03.jpg
Fowler 2-6-2T 5

Llan Jnc Shd 04.jpg
Black Fives. "A standard class of 845 individual locomotives" as illustrated here by domed 5137 and an unknown domeless companion.

Llan Jnc Shd 05.jpg
Webb 5' 6" tank 6682. To me it looks like a Webb Cauliflower tender to the right with a Super D and a Black Five tender behind.

Llan Jnc Shd 06.jpg
Coal tank 27572 (Push Pull fitted?) with another Coal tank to the left, a Fowler 2-6-2T behind and what may be a Precursor or a Prince of Wales 25374. The tender to the right belongs to Cauliflower 8401.

Llan Jnc Shd 07.jpg
Coal Tank 27572 and Cauliflower 8401 with the front of another LNWR 4-4-0 behind.

Llan Jnc Shd 08.jpg
An indentified Cauliflower. 8401 in the background. A youthful admirer tries to get a closer look at Super D 9032. I think that might be 2P 658 behind the Cauliflower.

Llan Jnc Shd 09.jpg
Super D 9032 poses next to a well built (but rarely modelled) coal stack.

Llan Jnc Shd 10.jpg
9032 from the top of the unidentified Cauliflower's tender. Our youthful admirer is off to seek a new vantage point. The obligatory whitewashed gas lamp and well stacked mountain of coal complete the picture.

There are some more undated North Wales views to come in due course.

It is going to be a long wait for Sirocco was not withdrawn until 1949 as BR no. 25297.

Maybe other WTers can suggest why the coupling rods have been removed.

If it is Sirocco!
There is no sign of a nameplate and the number is unreadable apart from the leading 2xxxx.
The print says Sirroco on the back.
I'll have a play with the scanner to see if anything of the number comes through but it it is a bit of a long shot.
Anything else withdrawn in 1938 with Llandudno Junction (or there abouts) as the last allocation?

Taking coupling rods down to replace bushes or swap damaged (bent or cracked) rods is not difficult and any loco fitter at any loco shed would tackle it without qualms. Far from a terminal condition. Small wheeled shunting locos often had the rods removed when being relocated or sent for overhaul in goods trains.
