Area 51 beckons...?

Having made a few posts, I thought I'd best 'break cover' and do a proper introduction.  I'd browsed the forum for a while assuming that the original large-scale intentions still held sway, but a few weeks ago I joined up, as part of a belated exercise in 'spreading my wings', so to speak.

I can't claim to be a 'pure' WR modeller, but I do certainly have an interest in all things hydraulic, and a connection with models of Western locations via the various layouts of Ken Gibbons.  It's great to see the large scale Westerns, Warships etc and hopefully a few of my own specialisms in 4mm will at some point find a corner here.

Welcome, Ian.
I am sure you will find this a happy place. I mean, they even let me in.
To get on with everyone, you simply need to state that the correct colour for engines is monastral blue.

To expand on Simon's point, as he says - you only need to state that the correct colour for engines is monastral blue... you don't actually have to believe it...  ;D ;) :)) (but perhaps keep it quiet!!)

Ian,

I recognise your 'handle' from the 'other place': I'm sure you're very welcome here and look forward to seeing what you're up to recently.

All the best,

I have to disappoint you Ian, I have no probs at all with blue but I've recently been researching some late survivors in green with no yellow...  ;)

Thanks Steph.  It's fair to say that the 'handle' will be being held rather differently here, I'll see what I can dig up

Thats more like it  :)) I think the those survivors and the early interpretations of corporate livery make for an interesting mix. Oh and chuck in a bit of late steam as well  :)

They do, there was at least one, possibly two, of cl. 20 and one 08 that survived into 1969 with no yellow applied.  With me it's also (obviously) about the mix of freight stock as well; whilst I've a natural affinity with my early 70s spotting days, you only have to go back a few years to bring in a wider mix of older stock, including some interesting oddities, that can legitimately be diesel-worked 8)

I agree: it is nice to add a little variety, even if only to show just how right blue is.
