Bucket loads of inspiration, and another distraction :D
Interesting looking at the old postcard shots to see a little crane on the rails, currently following various links to see if there was ever anything more typically railway like used on the line.
Not much operating potential on the breakwater line - wonder if I should convert my garden line :))

I know it well ,used to walk my border collie Jack down to the beach most mornings, and ive been out on the ex ministy tug now owned by trinity house to service the solar panels and batteries on the buoys in the channel. Behind the Sailing club is the bricked up tunnel which leads back to Barry Island station . the line was built along the breakwater for the bristol channel paddle steamers P1010014.JPG .

Hi Chris
Is that you on the buoy in the photo? If so, you certainly win a prize for one of the most unusual photos of man at work :)
A bit more surfing shows the line to be in use until 1975, anybody have any idea what coaches (or else?) were used to meet the Paddle Steamers?
Cheers
