Yes I remember now, they took some of our allocation from Oxley. I used to have colleagues who worked on the GatEx I often wondered what happened to the coaches. I remember they were completely stripped and were converted to work with old 3rd rail stock. Many thanks for another a blast from the past.

Someone has been paying attention to the various discussions here about the details of Mk.1, Mk2 and B4 bogies, thank you.

Hi Tom

Not sure it's an actual font, more likely the standard mould letters they had in the workshop since the 1900s. There's a bit of everything in there, from a typographical viewpoint. That flat-topped 3 is the toughest to match.

If I was to tackle this, I'd take a standard font, drop the alphabet and numerals into a graphics package, convert it to outlines and edit to make things look about right. Then I'd assemble everything from that. I might consider playing with this later, if you can wait a while.

M5241 is resident on the East Lancs. Rly., the photographs were taken on Maundy Thursday 2013 (which was 28th March in new money). Here is a link to the Vintage Carriage Trust survey record for M5241. As an example of the relevant lot, this carriage is not a rarity for the VCT lists records of thirteen carriages from the same Lot... the example at the Mid-Hants Rly was scrapped after a fire... another has not been seen since 2001... one is in Northern Ireland... which leaves ten as probable preserved vehicles in the UK.
