Also doodling one of the buildings at the end of the yard of my Kings Cross layout. I think once I start to get these cut out and painted the layout build will gather traction. Just now the planning stage is sufficient. A fellow modeller is also building KX so worst case, I'll give them the buildings if I don't get very far!

Gulp!

The little hut would be an absolute delight if you let me loose on it, and I really fancy having the opportunity to finally "nail" those classic but almost impossible to replicate London "yellow" stocks....

...but King's Cross...???

Wow Phil, that's an awful lot of bricks and mortar!!!!!!

At least most of them would be fairly sooty like these ones at Stratford though?

BIG BIG coaches.

Having spent money on BIG BIG coaches and now etches from @iploffy I thought I'd better make a start on them. This will be my winter project. I've been mulling over if I can utilise the laser cutter to help. So I've drawn up a SO in CAD.

I'll be using Easybuild B4 bogies and the BIG BIG ones will be winging there way over to @Phill Dyson at some point.

I'm pondering about cutting the windows out of a 1mm thick plastic strip to fit between the top cant rail and approx. 4mm below the windows. Then utilise Ian's etches for the windows with laser cut glazing. Drawing attached. Feel free to share and pass feedback.

Does anyone know the exact width of the doors. I can't find that dimension anywhere?

Phil, if you want to check the measurements and details before committing yourself to cutting, there are some rather splendid examples of the prototype that are "just up the road" for us at Dereham on the Mid Norfolk Railway...!

Oh, and the Epping Ongar Railway too (is that right JB B)...?

Slightly off-topic:

Having travelled to the Telford show via both the Severn Valley and Llangollen lines, I am overwhelmed at the quantity of Mk1s in use and in storage on just these two lines.

The only Mk2s were those in a pullman set on the SVR, and there may have been one in the carriage sidings on LR.

Does anyone have an idea of the total number of surviving Mk1 coaches? I cannot find any readily available figures online - the only other option being to spend an entire evening adding up individual entries on BR Coaches Smileysweat.gif
