I'll happily have one of those as well, please, (at CamRail), if you've got any left?
Yes I will
I shall be doing another batch next month and some other handy little holders for paint tins/bottles. the glue bottle holders have been very popular with over 50 sold with no marketing  If i put an advertisement out I could be a millionaire by this time next year :))

I'm just finishing the show guide and as mentioned over on Jamie's G3 coach thread I can now allocate a table to a WT "show and tell" type of operation.

I am quite happy to also use this to promote Western Thunder if you would like to Cynric, feel free to produce/bring along any promotional material that you would like to.

Simon
Simon, if only i was that organised :)) I shall be prepared next year for a WT southwest happening

A Camrail coup!

Paul Karau, the publisher of Model Railway Journal, has been very supportive of my shop and also Camrail and was kind enough to give this weekend's show a mention in the latest issue. However circumstances beyond Paul's control delayed publication but in another act of generosity he has arranged for copies to be sent directly from the printers to the show on Saturday morning and so MRJ 216 will be for sale at the “Titfield Thunerbolt” stall over the weekend.

Better still, I am delighted to say that the editor of this issue is none other than Gerry Beale who has very kindly volunteered to man the bookstall on at least Saturday if not Sunday too. So, the very latest MRJ literally hot off the press, together with its editor on hand to discuss the letters page with and get an autographed copy from- how good is that?

MRJs confirmed as being sent down by Amadeus Press, show guide being printed as I speak, various volunteers are moving into their positions, first fruit cake was taken out of the oven this morning and I will shortly start packing books up ready for a journey across to Bradford later on this evening.

Floor plan still looking viable:oops:

Evening de-briefing will take place at "The Barge" from about 6.00pm tomorrow evening:)

... I will shortly start... ...a journey across to Bradford later on this evening.

Last Friday a journey to Bradford, from down south, took six hours what with delays M40 at Warwick, M5 approaching the M6, serious congestion from Hilton Park to north of Stafford....

I hope to come along tomorrow, but being a wimp, it depends on the weather; I don't want t get too bad a dousing as I'll be on a motorcycle!

Forecast is good, nice day to be on the bike, better than anything in the last two months :)

It all fits, although it still needs more books, H&C's train set is all worked out and there is plenty of demonstrating space. Cookie and I have just run a couple of slugs over in the garden with the 48DS and startled a cat with its turn of speed and horn:p

Look forward to seeing more people tomorrow!

I got over to Camrail this morning and managed to spend an hour or two there courtesy of my dog sitting grandson. :) I met up with Cynric, Steve Cook, Steph Dale, Jamie Page and Simon and there was an excellent discussion at the table which had been provided by Simon. I also saw a lot of the work that has been featured on these pages and it looked even better "in the flesh" than it looked in the pictures on here, and it was good to natter with the others.

Here's some pictures I knocked off.

Cynric (left) behind the table discussing matters with a member of the public - might even have been another WT member but I didn't know his name.

Two views of the table

Cynric's building parts in the top left of the table, notably the signal cabin and the Heyside bank.
Simon's Ruston's and the 0-6-0 chassis to the right of the Heyside bank building.
Steph Dale's Jenkinson construction 7mm scale coaches top right of the table
My S scale coach collection in the red tin box with one body taken out to compare with.......
Jamie Page's G3 coach body parts and underframe in the middle of the table.
I don't know where the Pannier tank came from bottom right on the table - it appeared while I nicked off to get a cup of tea and a slice of excellent fruit cake :) , so apologies for not being able to credit it properly, but it did look a beauty.

[Edit much later] Pannier on the left of the table. :)

Sorry to go OT, but why did you take that route??
From the M40 I'd go M42/A42/M1 etc... assuming it's the "Oop T'North" Bradford you were aiming for... if you were aiming for Bradford-on-Avon you were extremely lost....:D
On that day there was a signifcant (greater than 30 mins) delay on the A339 due to bridgework... a similar delay at Warwick due to a festival near jcn. 15 - in both of those cases local knowledge enabled me to drive around the problem. Just after re-joining the M4o the dreaded signs flashed up with queues between NEC and M6 plus long delays on toll road so turn left rather than right at M42.... with a coffee break at that well kept secret called Hopwood Park. Going up M5 towards M6 the Road Reports on son's mobile announced lane closures north of Hilton Park with queues back towards jcn 8 and queueing between there and Stafford.

So at M5/M6 junction we turned south and then off of the M6 at jcn 7.... through Walsall and up to Chasewater, then towards Stafford where we re-joined the M6. Even then we kept getting double yellows every five miles or so until north of Manchester.

I was aiming for up't North... it was Simon in his original post who looked to be lost!

Just got back, it was great to meet everyone and all I can say is wow! The three coaches were all superb, and built using three different techniques. Jims coaches are the finest sides I have ever seen in the smaller scales, they really have to be seen to be appreciated. At the other end of the scale Jamie's MSWJR coaches have the wow factor in sheer size, presence and scale. I had my doubts about the bitsa approach but it works like a charm. And then there was Stephs 7mm coaches all cut by hand, something I could never achieve.
Lots to think about on the way home, and I'm feeling quite inspired. :) I'm off to think for a bit......

Had not been to Camrail before, but what a pleasant, interesting and friendly show. The opportunity to put names to faces on the WT table was an added bonus which turned out to be immensely enjoyable. There really are some talented people about, making good stuff and enjoying the doing of it.
It was superb to actually see the various projects to better appreciate, for example, the subtleties of the Guv'nor's signal box or the roof on Steve's brake van. It's a lightness of touch really, which also showed itself in the crispness of Steph's fretwork and Jim's exquisite multi- layering. So that's what I've taken from it- aim more for crisp but subtle.
Simon, congratulations on Camrail, and thanks for the opportunity to meet the others.
Guv'nor, thanks for this most excellent forum.

Seen that Hoover at Canton sheds from a 125 going to Kenysham via Changing at Bristol Parkway Back in January Never liked them cos they replaced the Wessies before their time . Still a bit iconic for the younger lads . as for the 66 WTF !!! Good to see the old water tower still in situ at Cardiff General. Thanks for posting

Still, it was a "proper" train ! It was a private GBRF charter apparently - only had 5 on.
