I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the Llansantffraid box is the crossing box and not the Signal box proper.

I have the same model and I found it too small to get a small lever frame in, plus a table, chair and a signalman!

I was aware of the origins of Llansantffraid Crossing box, but it happened to be just the size of signal box I was looking for. Nevertheless, I take your point about getting everything into the interior.

My roll model is Llanfyllin (below), but a scale model would require a huge amount of space in 7mm scale. I am cramming it into 14' X 3' and so with length and width massively reduced along with platform length, it seemed sensible to 'shrink' all buildings in order to keep everything in proportion. As an example, the small Cambrian signal box that was built a few weeks ago looks massive on my layout. But the biggest
thorn in my side was the goods shed. It overpowers everything, but it won't for much longer.

Coming along a treat, Larry. It has me convinced.

I especially like your clever adaptations to what looks like a smashing signal box kit.

    Following with interest.

I dunno about adventure stories :). But as a WB story, a small laser cut goods lock-up is on order. Also, seeing as reservoir-filler has given way to sunlight this morning, some buildings have now entered the sprayshop. Fitting all the Peco interior bits into the signalbox called for some surgery. I liked the stove and sank it in the fireplace along with a flu in place of the old chimney. 'Corgi' Cledwyn of Llanfair CT did the conversion for BR...

The box is finished as far as it goes, but it now needs a locking room door with steps leading down from the platform...

Laser cut buildings have a strange fascination for me although the end prospect of painting brickwork is akin to a dental appointment! All's finished in time for the arrival of the next laser cut kit. Meantime, the platform has now entered the sprayshop.

Anyone know of 7mm traditional GWR wooden station fencing and gates?

Station platform and cattle pens now painted and weathered, but are awaiting matt varnish. I should add that nothing is glued down, not even the backscene....

    Hi Larry
I like the way it is coming on, very good. It just the 2Bs, Back scene & Ballast needed to trick us it's a model not the real place.

Another piece of the jigsaw completed, a GWR station building to replace the old Cambrian wooden structures...

Thanks Craig. Distancing ourselves is nothing new. Been doing it since February. Most of the summer was wasted messing around in 4mm when I would not have done it in a normal year of going places. But I have planned 7mm out and am pacing myself trying out ideas while everything is still in a dry-run stage.

    Cheers and keep safe,

It’s a good job the lockdown in Wales has been described as a ‘firebreak’ as if it were in England and was called a ‘short circuit’ one could get very frustrated :headbang:

"firebreak" somehow seems a more appropriate term - "short circuit" suggests an accidental failure.
