Crane Locomotives

As the prototype appears to have slightly longer side-tanks than a terrier, I had to model these. Red primer thrown on to highlight the join between the original tank and extensions. Orange-peel paint finish should disappear once I've attacked it with wet 'n dry paper. :)

I like the Wainwright-esque spectacle plate! What bits are you using for the crane? It looks like a plastic kit?

Coming along nicely

I'm going to ask the obvious now, where do they store the coal

Hmm. Not sure. I get the impression these locos were pretty much left in a yard to carry out coaling of other locos. I'm assuming therefore that they must have had a wagon attached with a suitable supply of coal. Happy to be told otherwise though. :)

I'll guess..... the coal bunkers are alongside the cab sheets. I'll also guess that most of these locos were used within depots where there was plenty of coal about so maybe there was no need for on board coal supplies.

Frankly, and as is normal, I dunno!

It being an Australian loco. I feel its only correct to quote the late great Ritchie Benaud "A Marvellous effort that".

All you need now is the bunker coal wagons to go with it. And before anyone says anything no I have no plans to make (or sell) any at the moment.
