I have lots of western books and pics so i trolled through those for info onhow much could be seen. I also looked at the engines them selves as to what i needed to re-create. This was also done with the boiler. Unfortunately the boiler was more of a problem as the preserved westerns dont have them. I looked at photographs of nameplates and found some with the boiler visable , so i was able to get the right position

Thanks for the additional info on the engine theatres Rob. :) As Cynric says, these parts would be ideal candidates for a bit of resin casting, especially if building more than one Western.

I think we are all building more than one! I will have a go at a master when I have some photos

[quote=""lancer1027"":379x4hns]Railmatch do both. I use enamel for main colours and acrylics for some weathering
Squires do a full list of both the Railmatch enamels and the acrylics.[/quote:379x4hns]
The paint is on order :D I have ordered both the railmatch and the lifecolour

I want to experient with weathering the Cavalier coach (thats why I built it) and for faded paintwork yours is the only thread I can find to show me how to do it, i.e. light undercoat followed by normal paint work faded using a fibre brush to taste in a steady downwards movement then suitably numbered and dirtied.
