DCC ESU LokSound Micro V4.0 steam sound question

I've been tweaking my ESU LokSound Micro V4.0 decoder that's been loaded with 14xx steam sound by Howes.

I'm trying to figure out exactly which CV controls when, on decelerating the loco, the chuff stops and (forgive my ignorance here) the 'coasting' sound appears.

Out of the box, the 'coasting' sound only sounded very briefly and only if the loco had reached a significant speed before I decelerated the loco and even then only if I decelerated the loco hard (basically by turning the speed controller to zero and reversing direction).

By increasing the value of CV 4 (deceleration) I've managed to stop the chuff sound and start the 'coasting' sound much sooner on decelerating - this seems to happen at the mid-point between initiating deceleration and reaching a complete stop (or reaching the terminal speed if I haven't turned the speed controller to zero.) But I'm wondering if there's a better way to control this sound feature.

So, can anyone tell me exactly how this feature is controlled please? I've scoured the LokSound V4.0 decoder manual but can't find anything specific on this.

Thank you!

Chris

P.S. I've posted a short video on YouTube here. Please excuse the poor lighting and the incorrect aspect ratio but at least the sound is good.

For reference, the speaker I'm using is the new ESU sugarcube speaker (ESU 50321) and I think the sound is fantastic - amazingly so for such a tiny speaker.

Hi there,
I don't know if this may be any help, but have you utilised the ESU 'Autotune' feature, to tune the decoder to the motor/gearbox combination.

Have a clear run of about 5 - 6' of track (depending on scale). Put the loco on the programming track and set CV54 to '0'. replace the loco onto the main track making sure that there is clear space in front of the loco. make sure the loco is set in the correct direction of travel, and press F1. The loco will set off at breakneck speed for a few feet and then come to a sudden rest. The sound will also of started but press F1 again to stop it. This will of reset the CV's 51 through to 55 and in most cases will give better running. Some have tried this feature on a rolling road, but a rolling road will not give the inertia required, so are usually less successful.

Sorry if you already know of this and have already used it, I just thought it may establish more controllability for you.
This feature is only in the V4 Lokpilot & Loksound

Chris set acceleration CV to 130, deceleration CV to 70.
Drive the loco on 128 speed steps, tap the loco up in lumps of 10. To bring the coast in drop it in lumps of 10.
Try going up to 60, then drop to 50 or 40 and you should get coasting working well.
Adding back on 10 will bring the chuff back on.

Thank you all for the prompt and very helpful replies. I've saved myself a lot of wasted time randomly experimenting and have a couple of new directions for exploration.

Many thanks.
