HI,

I'm building a 7mm Agenoria kit of the above loco and none of my pictures show what type of coupling strengthening plate is fitted to the buffer planks (several types are supplied). Please can anyone help or advise? A picture would be brilliant. It was built in 1900 so what type of plate was being fitted then?

Thanks,

David.

Which GWR No 1 , there were a few ? The only Hercules I have found is No 16 the crane tank ? Unless it is broad gauge ?

Is this the Peckett inherited by the GWR and which subsequently passed to BR? I've no idea what the answer is either way, but dimly recall that was named - inappropriately - Hercules?

It was built in 1900, Peckett W4 works Number 810. It went new to Baldwins Cwmavon works near Port Talbot. It was then transferred to Briton Ferry Collieries around WW1. It then moved to Ystalyfera Tin Works about 1942 via loco dealer Chas Williams of Morriston. Finally taken into BR stock in 1948 so never was a GWR loco. After a BR(W) overhaul at Danygraig in 1948, when it acquired a GWR-type safety valve cover, it spent its declining years based at Gurnos shed on the Swansea Vale line.
The number was only painted on the cab sides and the 'Hercules' nameplate was only on the left cab side.
