Well, it's taken a little longer than I would have wished, but now it's ready to go into the paintshop. I built it so that the boiler and footplate could be separated and the handrails and exhaust pipe will be attached after lining.
I made a number of improvements, including cast springs and scratch built brake gear with 3D printed brake blocks. A few niggles, but I'm pleased with the final result. The project was started at Missenden Abbey, where I received lots of encouragement and helpful advice.

Please could you post more images including the tender if possible. I assume the wheels are by Alan Harris.

I'm a big fan of building locos so they can be broken down into units for painting and the V2 and A3 from Finney lend themselves to this very well.

Hi Peter, I will photograph the tender tonight. I did not build it - it came pre-built with the loco as a kit from Ebay some 4 years ago. I started it in October 2017. The tender was filthy and during cleaning various bits that had been glued fell off. I added some Laurie Griffin lamp bracket castings and patched it up. The loco wheels are AGH with Slaters on the tender. I was advised that they were early AGH wheels and I had them professionally cleaned and re-profiled.
I did follow your A3 build from which I picked up a couple of tips. Thanks!

Hi Peter, this is the tender, somewhat cleaned up. I used some brass strip to strengthen the etched brake rodding and replaced the etched lamp brackets with castings. Otherwise straight out of the box with beam compensation and Slaters wheels.

Hi Mick, I used castings for the wheel springs. They required quite a bit of work (trial and error) to get them to sit correctly between and on the frame spacers. I ditched completely the etched brake rodding, which on the V2 goes out and back from the brake cylinders. Using the etches as templates I made up the rods using a 'cut and paste' method with brass wire and cast pull rods. I also used A3 cross beams and pull rods. Where there was a need to join wire with lengths of pull rod I made up expansion joints with fine tube and nuts. I hope this picture helps. The return rods are just visible underneath the rods connecting the cross beams. The 3D printed brake shoes can also be seen very close to the wheel tyres.
