From Llangunllo to Llanbister Rd.

Hi Geoff,

This looks interesting (but a bit disappointed it's not 7mm, just because I would have liked to see you tackle 7mm!! :):) ). Does it connect onto Llangunllo, or is it a separate layout?
Many thanks, for the continued inspiration.

Hi Kevin,

You are not the only one to be disappointed, but it just wouldn't work in 7mm scale, well not as I imagined it in my minds eye, and in the space at my disposal. It is separate from Llangunllo but could be connected to it if I wished, mind you that would involve a rearranging my modelling den and making do with a semi permanent setup.

Cheers,
Geoff

Good Evening All,

Not content with one diorama here is the second, I had previously mocked up this scene, which is based on Talybont-on-Usk in 2mm scale. To satisfy myself that it would also work in 4mm scale I had another extensive planning session.

Measuring 1000 mm x 350 mm the footprint is the same as Llanbister Road shed. Buildings are the same as used on the latter, but only for planning purposes, and bear no resemblance to what I have in mind.

There is a more detailed description of the plan on my website should you be interested in reading more.

Good morning everyone, just a quick update on my plastic Llanbister Rd. shed diorama.

P1160328 (2).JPG
5 mm thick 'Foamex' has been used throughout, the joints being reinforced with plastic angle strip from B & Q. The frame is all glued together with Evo Stick pipeweld, and Loctite Gel superglue where the edges of the foam core are exposed. The whole frame is light, rigid and very strong, hopefully it will last as long as the old 'Kappa board' layout, anyone remember that?

The buildings are only rough mock ups at this stage, and I admit to a little cheating with the grass, which has benefited from a little cloning with the photo editor :)

The view from the shed mess hut, and now its back to track building.

I think (know) I will thoroughly enjoy watching this evolve.
Something very basic is going through my mind at the moment but SHHHUSH don't tell anyone in O gauge. I succumbed to the Hattons Sale of the Century and bought a Dapol 57xx. The layout will have no more than 4 points and be based in the Forest of Dean, I think.

I'm waiting for the Dapol 14xx to appear..........

Visiting the model shop in Exeter this morning for the first time in ages, I made an impulse purchase of a DVD from 'The Jim Clemens Collection', namely No. 12 'Herefordshire Byways'. As you probably know, Geoff, there is some absolutely superb footage on this of the Kington and Presteigne goods. I'd never seen it before and it's extremely inspirational!
