Gauge 1 Loco lubrication

Since being in the smaller scales I have always used a light oil for the gears and worm. I am now in the situation where all the parts are either steel or brass.
What is the general opinion on lubrication, 1. Light oil, 2. Heavy oil or 3. Grease ( inc. Moly )

Sorry I forgot to mention that my layout is indoors and very small.

For brass/steel gears I was recommended sewing machine oil by the chap doing the motor workshop/demo at the GOG Kettering show (apparently the same stuff as model oil but in much bigger cheaper containers )
