Hi Guys :wave:
I managed to get hold of a copy of MRJ 205 this weekend and I noticed - when idly thumbing through it on Sunday morning - that Glos. GOG Group had a little do at the village hall in Hardwicke......I am not sure if this is an annual or bi-annual event......I have been once or twice before and although a small event, it is interesting and very friendly. As it isnt far from 'ours' we popped down to have a look on Sunday afternoon...
The layouts included;-
Aswood Basin;
Severn Mill;
Test Track;
Diesel Shed.
Demonstrating was a Mr. Murdoch (kit building).
With the following Traders in attendance;
Scorpio;
Dragon;
Eileen's;
Haywood.
In the past CPL have been there too.
Well worth a look - for future events - if one is local to the area.
The layouts were charming with Ashwood Basin being one of the smallest 7mm layouts I have ever seen, compressed perspectives/buildings, yet loaded with detail it just goes to show what can be achieved in 7mm in a v'limited space Severn Mill, is a 16' 'Colonel Stephens' type layout with an interesting track-plan and good use of space. The trackwork was all suitably 'light weight' rail section and the whole concept/layout worked rather well......
......More in my sphere of err um 'expertise' :-[ ??? was a diesel era layout, with some of Mr. Tiger-viking's friends and colleagues in attendance. Diesel Depot being the layout's name and so I understand an second-hand layout undergoing some changes. Another interesting and ingenious track plan with just 2-3 points (two of which being 3-ways) and twin fiddle yards (either end).
I have taken a few photos of Diesel Depot for those who maybe interested in WR/MR heavy oil types......and I also waved the flag for Western Thunder and you never know we may have some more recruits. The guys operating Diesel Depot[ seemed a very friendly bunch with much in common with us all here and although I was told who made/painted what model I am ashamed to say that I couldnt remember who was who by the time that I got home :-[ ...Some of the chaps, so I understand, worked for Antics. I do know which manufacturers supplied which kit/model.....in many respects the guys on the day were/are big fans of fettling Heljan's products
Anyway I hope that you enjoy the photos of the 'cops' I had whilst peeping over the fence and from the signal box ;D
