Good deal on Dremel?

I reckon that this is an exceptional deal for anyone looking for a Dremel set up. (I'm not, as I'm already well equipped in the mini drill area).

According to the web site the kit comprises:
Description

45 Piece Set (4000-1/45 F0134000JB) High quality Dremel accessories (including SpeedClic starter set), inspiring welcome poster, instruction manual and soft bag. Kit includes Flexi-Shaft. 65 Piece Set (4000-4/65 F0134000JE) 65 High quality Dremel accessories (including speedclic starter set), inspiring welcome poster, instruction manual and carry case. Also comes with a flexishaft, detailers grip, line circle cutter, and shaping platform.

I guess we should make allowance for the repetition, and precisly what an "inspiring welcome poster" is I'm unsure, but considering the content this is exceptional value.

I've purchased from Cromwell previously with every satisfaction (last time a 5 litre can of celly thinners which was about half the price of anywhere else) and won't hesitate to use them again.

Nice link to your email Dad!

Perhaps you could print as pdf and upload here so that others can see it?

Absolutely fine, Ian, and as I said I personally don't need a new drill.

However, for those starting in this hobby or who have lusted after a Dremel this may be a deal worth considering.

Hi Brian, I bought my Dremel 3000 from the Dremel web-site, it cost £65 with flexi-shaft with accessories and carrying case. The only problem was I didn't have any small collects for small drills.

Thanks Len.

That's a cautionary tail - I've not looked at a price comparison site. Neither do I know how the model 4000 compares with the 3000.

In fact I reckon a quick review on Amazon and a price comparison site would be my recommendation anyway.

Just checked on Amazon - same animal available for £83.00 (with a claimed RRP of £89.99)..........

OK - I submit! I should've checked alternatives first. I reckon I paid about £80 for my first Dremel about ten years ago so at first sight this looked to be a good deal. The Amazon one is clearly better.

I still use the Black & Decker Minicraft that I bought from my Mum's club book with pocket money in the early 1980's - it has done everything from model making to porting car cylinder heads and is still going strong.

I did pick up one of the Parkside sets that Lidl had a few weeks go for I think £17.99 with accessories and a 3 year warranty - seems ok for the money and lots of extras in the set.

Edit for price correction.

Last year I received a BnQ gift voucher for sorting out a friends boiler electrics so I got one of these, for I think £82. Beware though it doesn't come with a chuck, which you'll have to buy on top. I didn't have anything like a poster that inspired me, so I don't know what that is either. It appears to have been made in Mexico, which isn't the most obvious location I would of thought.

A word of warning! The speed control unit on my 4 year old Dremel , Model No. F013 8000 67 , one of the cordless types, recently ceased to function. I got in touch with Dremel only to be told that they don't do repairs on models which are out of warranty. However what they did offer was a 30% discount on any new model.

However they did give me the part number for the relevant ' speed indicator unit, which wasn't available from them. I subsequently took up their offer of a 30% discount on a new model, my original one being now obsolete, and ordered a speed control unit from a company near Leicester, at a cost of £30.

Well, if Donald gets his wall, the Mexicans will have to find other export markets...
