Greetings from Scotland

Afternoon all, I am returning to the hobby after a good few years out due to being involved with classic motorcycle racing. I like 60s steam with 60s and 70s diesels as well as some of the pregrouping bits and pieces. I am sure I will be pretty rusty and I seem to have lost most of my tools over the years. I am going to get one of Peter Mullans C15 or C16s to get back into the groove again when I get some spare evenings back. Anyone any experiences with Peters kits.

Welcome Alasdair, and what Heather said, whereabouts in Scotland are you, as I'm in Glasgow? I have a C15 built from a Majestic models kit which went together very nicely, this is now with Connosuir Models. I have met Peter Mullan, and he is a very pleasant man to talk to and I believe his C16 kit came from George Dawson's drawing board so should likely be as good as the C15. A pic of my one to spur you on.
Regards
Martin

Hi Martin, I know you from Bo'ness, it was me who you were speaking to at the winter diesel gala. Peter is coming to see my pal in Glasgow tomorrow so hopefully bringing one of the kits with him if he has all the parts. I had a good look at Peters kits at his house in the middle of last year. It makes a nice change from the bike stuff which is like a full time hobby usually.

Alasdair, my apologies for not connecting you with Boness, lets just call it a senior moment. I think we last met at the Perth show and since then I have been struggling with modelling, domestic stuff to the fore, and have largely given up Boness, got fed up with the travelling to and fro. Notwithstanding welcome to WT none the less.

I have been away from Bo'ness for a good few years now. Started classic racing a few years back and ended up winning the Classic Superbike race at the Isle of Man last year with Australian Davo Johnston which was a big achievement. I am trying to scale back on the bike stuff as it hoovers up time like nothing else and is rather pricey to say the least. I like the engineering aspect of building and making things. I do all the work on the bikes apart from the engine building so alway plenty to do.

Yes but they are the boring modern things, nothing like a Sulzer. But if you were needing a kettle fix I could arrange oh on or two as well.

Hi Alasdair - thanks for the HST sludge tank pics. Good to see you at Bristol.

C16 kit duly collected yesterday so time to get some wheels ordered and a suitable motor and gearbox. Next need to find my tool box and see if there is anything needed. Should probably have done that before going to Bristol last weekend!
