It was last sold in September 2006 for £3901.67. That will give an idea of how much you may need to spend. The new (current) owner lived in France at the time so presumably a van hire and ferry would need to be factored in to the purchase.

That's an interesting bit of information Dave, but what a bizarre amount it went for!

I suppose when you consider how many hours Gordon must have expended on creating "Ditchling" in the first place, the buyer got a bit of a bargain really, but how do you put a price on a layout?

It was sold on eBay so the market decided. If only it was S7 I might be tempted to make a cheeky offer.....!

Go for it Dave - I don't imagine removing the track and re-laying it with S7 would be too difficult...

I enquired about the layout but it fell at the first hurdle for me as it's a bit too long for the space I have available, and I didn't fancy hacking it about. I had a very friendly conversation with the owner when it was made clear that, unless there was to be a "reasonable" offer it would be gifted to the proposed(?) model railway museum at Ashford. Of course, when there's an offer on the table who knows?.....

I don't know of any. It was last on the exhibition circuit many years ago - before the days when digital video recording became common. It was featured in MRJ 50 in 1991 and also in Gordon's two 7mm modelling books.

The usual 'herald' of the Gazette is an email with the current small ads in it. I believe this is done because some people get their Gazette a lot later than others, and lose their chance of getting a scratch built Castle for £150, or whatever.

Me too. Swiftly followed by the postman bearing the latest Gazette! It's just started raining which has curtailed garden activities and opened a window of opportunity for a little light reading this afternoon!

Saw the shots of the Heljan Prairie in the mag, got a long way to go before the production model I reckon..

This new RTR stuff is very tempting though. Had I the money (and the consequent space) I think I might well want a GWR (or BR(W)) mainline, increasingly attainable in RTR provided you have the ability to spend thousands without thinking about it.

I hope they use a better glue than on the diesels or they will arrive as a kit:confused:
Just stripping 2 26's for repaints and there are more bits on the floor than on the models now:)

Hi all..

Just a thought, and in no way elitist or prejudicial, and ready to be beaten down in a ball of flames.

Seeing as Western Thunder has become the unofficial home to Scale7 modellers and that there will be an S7 loop (I hesitate to use the term 'test track') at Guildex this year, is there any interest in having an S7 meet over and above the regular WT meet at the usual test track?

Not intended to take away from the usual meet as I say, but might be worth a go..?

To me "scale" is not the most important part of the journey so I think that I shall stick with the regular get-together... unless the standard meet decides to visit the S7 test track for some different scenery.

Or maybe Saturday at one track and Sunday at another set of "loops"?
