Im not sure it [RTR/RTP] is evil -I own items myself- but I do think it can lead to a certain sameness and over reliance on manufactured products unless used judiciously.

True enough, and not doubted; perhaps the bigger question is whether their very availability is, of itself, enough to lead to that over-reliance. It would be easy to point (and again I'm not suggesting anybody in particular is doing this, just addressing the phenomenon) to the large numbers of 4mm layouts running Black 5s, Mk1 coaches and (ahem) 16 ton minerals, but it's also true that RTR has become (belatedly in some cases) very good at providing the staples of the post-war railway, the things that are needed in quantity and that can free up time for other things.

... Even if the clones appear to be taking over with what are regarded as identical models it will just enhance the moment when a truly outstanding model comes along to present a stark contrast.

I'd very much agree with that (subject to the caveat, hinted at earlier, that the hoi poloi may not recognise that it's outstanding);)

In this day and age it seems reality TV has taken over, docu soaps being the most distasteful showing how bad behavior can get rewards getting drunk and driving home being pulled by the police, then boasting about it getting banned then driving again sticking 2 fingers up at the establishment. Most kids have their heads in the sky waiting for someone to give them money for doing nothing I blame the parents. All of the politicians blame the same thing lack of training, I personally blame greed of the bosses out sourcing manufacturing to places like China so they can make even more money and the lack of discipline at home. parents to scared to smack their own children for fear of social services intervention. when I was a kid I regularly saw police smacking kids if the did wrong.

The organized violence 2 years ago called riots, when caught and sentenced to a custodial prison term the parents were openly saying it was harsh ,not harsh enough for most people. Society is wrong these days American culture has taken root, compensation claims abound, ill treating older people, no respect. If you don't like it shout and scream and you will get it,plain wrong.

My grandfather was the victim of a distraction burglar and was caught, we asked the police for time with the perpetrator and was told that if we did anything to him we would get locked up. I think that we have become soft have them breaking rocks sod their human rights. What about the human rights of the victim, the courts view give 'em victim criminal compensation, which incidentally is added on to a fine and not distributed to the actual victim.

Hi Jordan,

As far as i can see the VAA and OAA wagons look to be ok:thumbs:. Im not a VAA or OAA geek but nothing jumps out at me to say thats wrong.

As for price , i think its not a bad price at all for a RTR wagon.

There is also the chance that if several WTer's get together im sure there would be enough wanted to make the 10 to get at "special price of £500 for 10".

I for one would like a VAA. ................. so thats only 9 to go:D

On what I can see the VAA and OAA wagons look very good and worth the money. Something else I need to save up for. :)

Getting back to the HJ wagons, if we may..??

What's the general concensus? Look okay? Price reasonable?
Or a travesty of Dapol-esque proportions, that will serve only to dumb down the scale lower than anyone thought possible..... ;)
And just as an aside, what's the timespan for the Class B Tank, roughly?

On first impressions they look reasonable. The thing which stands out as being a bit naff are the wheels and brake discs. The disc brakes should be recessed slightly and not right up to the edge of the tyre. The effect of which makes the whole wheel look a big chunky/2D/toy train like. Hopefully they can sort that or if not modellers could take the discs off, file the back down, and replace.

Cheers

Tom

If post 70 is anything to go by, I think a deal might have been done whereby the tank wagons will only be available in REGGAE REGGAE SAUCE livery

I like all of 'em... not sure I can stump up £150 all at once, that's all  ... better start saving again!
The idea of a 'get-together' buy is a good one though  To save further postage to each individual, they could be distributed at an Event such as Telford, etc....

That was my thinking Jordan..

For example.... If certain members got together and could meet up at a show then those members would save a £5 per wagon plus postage:thumbs:.
We could say next years Halifax or Telford ( dont think they will be available till early next year ) that would give each member sufficiant time to save

Anymore views/ideas or even candidates for purchases:D

Rob:)
