Hello from me.

Hello,
I'm Chris and found my way here via FS32Srailways and John H.
I'm on a few of the forums so recognise some names.

Having tried most scales over the years I have now settled on some of the bigger stuff with inevitable compromise but greater self satisfaction.... oh yes I can see it too  ::)
My last layout (since sold) was GWR/Western Region in N but there was a long period of inactivity before that and a couple of years in the wilderness after.
Still have a serious thing for BR Blue diesels which I just can't seem to shake off  ;)
Currently [s:32f9auej]working[/s:32f9auej]  dabbling in Gauge O and 1:32 scales for my SG modelling but I also have an interest in Gauge 3 and narrow gauge too.

Whilst I am not traditionally a Western Region modeller and I come here as a fan of larger things I do have a soft spot for many things from that way possibly due to three of my first four OO scale locos being a Pannier, Albert Hall and a Hymek!

Look forward to seeing what is going on here and maybe contributing the odd thing too now I am active in modelling once again.

Hi Chris and welcome
I think we need some pictures of projects  :))
My first loco was a Triang Hymek, happy memories indeed

Still have mine although the box is a little worse for wear - Hornby box but Triang-Hornby loco.
Got a thing for Triang-Hornby too - don't know why as most of it was awful but must of spent too much time studying those mid-late '70s Hornby catalogues  ::)

yeah but it was fun, too, and could stand the rough'n'tumble of trainset life; a derailment didn't result in the shedding of umpteen delicate details!!! ::) ;)

Welcome aboard!!

Aye and it even rusted all by itself too  ;D

It all went wrong about '82 when after reading an article in RM I became dissatisfied with the rtr stock... I then discovered Craftsman and Westward kits and decided to detail my locos
Funnily enough my best effort was a Lima Western - long since gone....
Perhaps I should finish some of those long forgotten projects rather than spend more money?

Thanks again for the welcome guys.

Mmmmm, blue diesels

Like so many of us I have an interest in so many different areas of this hobby that it is all too easy to 'flit' from project to project and lose focus on any one area.
Nothing wrong with this as variety is the spice... etc. but when I am active I do like to try and keep things moving gradually on all fronts.
I admire those who can concentrate on one project or even more on one scale but as I passed my 'mid-life' mark last year I realise that time is slowly running out and I must gain momentum on the things I want to do to have any hope of achieving even a fraction of what I want to.

Excuse my rambling

The best thing to do is take a snap shot of the time period you like as a basis for what you want then get flexible, Simples works every time even on my layout there never was a Hymek at Tipton but there is now
