Hi All

Where to start without writing a book! Well in the year 0BC I didn't exist and a few thousand millennia past before, just kidding.

As my profile says, it was my Mother that introduced me to trains and this was spurred on by my Father (A professional model maker by trade and a talent I did not inherit) who presented us in the early 70's with an 8x4 oval of N Gauge track, my older brother a Minitrix Warship (lucky bugger) and me a Dock tank.

It was through this little oval that the seeds to the modelling hobby were well and truly sown and over the years the scales just got bigger and life got more complex!

I think that's about it, so..

Regards to all and happy modelling, Dean:drool:

Just a "Mad" thought, if you did not exist in 0BC, how do you know that the year was 0BC? Answer in invisible ink so as to not upset the Flying Squad.

BTW - what models? what region? what period?

Anyway, nothing like an optimistic Forum name, is there... and that is nothing like an optimistic Forum Name!! What are we gonna shorten it to??

"I've got patent pending" possibly?

"Not a Blue Meanie" maybe?

Or just "Harry in the cupboard".

Hi Jordan... I was asking as to the link between the Member's profile page and Blackadder. As the link is still as obscure as mud I hereby promote you to Private First Class Obscuriest.

To quote "I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue", Rule 17 applies.....

If there was a Rule 17 for Clue then that rule would be "I haven't a clue" - which would be the same as Rules 1 to 16 inclusive!

Just a "Mad" thought, if you did not exist in 0BC, how do you know that the year was 0BC?

Nothing existed in the year 0BC, not even the year itself.

There is no "year zero" in the BC/AD method of labelling years, because they refer to ordinality, but not to number of years yet lived - I suppose you could say always rounded up rather than always rounded down, which is what we use for age (i.e. "How many birthdays have you had?") In simple speak:

When you were born, you were aged 0, but were in your first year of life. At the end of that, you were 1, and the next day, you were 1 but in the second year of your life, and so on.

2012 AD means the two thousand and twelfth year of Our Lord, i.e. the 2,012th year since His birth.
(I have capitalised out of respect for those with personal beliefs.)

Now, if that hasn't baked your noodle, how about this question:
Was 1 BC the first year Before Christ, or the last year Before Christ?

PS - Graham, that is not a "mad" thought, but it is a good example of solipsism. But since we have never met (and even if we had) how do you know that I exist? For that matter, does this forum exist?
Where do you want to get off the solipsistic roundabout? Did you even think about getting onto it?

Not me, one of those Blue Brigade trying to get used to the idea of diesels in green, maroon, ochre.... either singularly or in rainbow style.

Wash your mouth out matey! Diesels are like a packet of Smarties. Blue IS the most sort after colour as it gives you the biggest rush :p
