Hi all

Western Thunderer
Just found this site, thanks to Ozzy O. I'm a big GWR WR fan and I model in 7mm my next loco will be 5099 Compton Castle Cardiff cantons no 1 loco. I'm not old enough to remember steam but I have a passion for it. At the mo I'm modelling a small depot 11 foot X 4 foot as you need alot of room for 0, hopefully I will start a thread and get some pics up.

Welcome aboard err, Compton.  :)  I hope we'll be seeing a workbench thread on your Castle?

I've got one of my own on the go in S7 here:

http://www.westernthunder.me.uk/http:// ... ic.php?t=9

(Some of the images have duplicated or don't tie in with the narrative for some reason, but hopefully, you'll get an idea of the progress so far!).

Unfortunately, modelling time is a bit scarce of late and a few other projects have jumped the queue, but I hope to get back to it some time this year.

Looking forward to seeing some pictures from you soon.

Hi guys
Thanks for the warm welcome, unfortunately there won't be a castle build thread as I'm not building it, I leave that to my good mate. I am currently building C & L kit of a GWR coaling stage for my depot. So hopefully some pics soon. Had a look around the Bristol o gauge show today, a good venue with plenty to see. I'm taking my king and Brit out for a run this week end  I've recently fitted the king with a sound chip from howes and had the Brit chip reblown so it will be good to hear them on a good run instead of back and for my shed.
All the best

go for it on the pics mate. may be this isnt the site to mention this but the duchess on the Finney stand really grabbed my attention yesterday . City of London with the diagonal yellow stripe on the cab side would be my choice.
had a chat to the main man aswell so I will see you sat, where going to a nice little boozer aswell, trust me to drive  :headbang:
As for the DOG no no, there stuff definetley has a parentage and I dont think it will be any different to the Duke of pain.

No problem with the Duchess  :) the Finney is a nice kit, I built one several years ago. I also like the yellow stripe, but I think I prefer the loco in green.

That's another nice option, and one I might consider but I'm not too sure about the WD tender. Though if I saw one it might grow on me.

It's actually pretty impressive, but only right for 'City of Bradford' in the 1948 Exchange Trials when running from Waterloo.  Slope-topped smokebox too, which always strikes me as being a lovely feature.  Having family/personal connections with Bradford it's a model I'd dearly love to make.  The images are of 4mm scale models made by Graham 'Muz' from r-t-r beginnings:

The 'Scot' didn't look too bad either:

Sorry Compton, we seem to have rather taken over your thread... :headbang:

Hi all and general conversations

LMS black with BR numbers and early emblem looks brill on a duchess. But my period is 1959 1968, lots of dirty locos.  I have a brassworks Ivatt 2 MT with the welsh wizard at the moment so I'm sure he will post some pics in the gallery once completed. Any way less talk about those red engines the castles are the best 8)
