Hi chaps,
Hope you are all well, apologies for not replying to PMs and posts I've just been unbelievably busy the last couple of months! Needless to say arm chair modelling ideas have been a high priority during the few free periods I have had some productive moments. I have decided that I will build a layout shortly, modelling Staverton in Devon as it was pre-Dart Valley days.
Hopefully I will upload a track plan and measurements shortly. All the track work has been purchased and construction has started. But if anyone has any photographs of Staverton I would be most pleased to hear from you!
More soon,
Regards,
Nick

Nick, I assume you have the Peter Kay book? GWRJ? I have lost of shots from visits, but that's not a problem for you! What period are you considering?

I don't have that book, but I shall certainly order a copy.
Well 1950-56, but then I have a couple of Class 22s on order in BR Plain Green so they will arrive on there too at some point! I'm rather lucky as I only live 25 minutes away from Staverton, quite handy really! ;)

The book is out of print, but I do have couple of copies and it does come up on eBay. The GWRj article is excellent for the 50s

I would guess the 14xx is a problem in 4mm with only the airfix available?

Yeah I've got a couple which need working on. I've got the Mainly Trains Detailing Kit, which still requires odd bits to be added, so now I am waiting for Ultrascale wheels to arrive as I've tried some Gibson wheels in a 57xx and they are already rusting in places. :? :|

up to mid '51 1470 was in GWR green without topfeed which would be an ideal candidate, after that it had that 'orrible LNWR lining

Would this be the mysterious joint project mentioned elsewhere?

There is a track plan in the Peter Kay book. its a longer station that you would realise in full scale.

It will be about 10ft working from the plan I have. I'll upload some pics this evening. Start a nice new thread.

Yeah mad isn't it! Typical South Devon Railway! (Like building the Mortonhampstead Branch to double track standards!) :)

So is this something to do with Staverton Bridge, then?

Tis indeed! My idea of small, a layout that is 9ft by 2ft! Although only two points, both B7s from Exactoscale. :)

Photos to follow.
