Website Italy - HO scale modelmaking

Neil,
Thanks for the link, that looks like a really interesting website.
There's actually a couple of finescale HOers here too. My East German stuff is mostly hand built, kits or modified r-t-r. The perception of all HO being shake the box is a uniquely British viewpoint.
Ironically, I'm starting to have that view of most OO layouts with their (very nice) Bachby or Hornmann stock and ready to plonk buildings.

I think I'd have to agree with you there Steph; too much 'ready to' can be a curse as well as a blessing.

Nice link there Neil, although "I no speaka da lingo" the pictures do the talking.

Me too Steph, without wishing to hijack this thread, when does a layout become a "collection" of models?

Please feel free to hijack away, it's an interesting question. For me it's when a layout comes into being because of the availability of 'ready to' models rather than the desire of the layout builder to model a particular place and time (even if fiction does play a part in that place and time). The individual should always drive the creative process, not the expedient availability of things to buy from the toy shop.

Very well put Neil, I agree.

BTW, Did you do the artwork for your class 24 signature?....very impressive.

Nice site, especially nice to see modern railways and electrified to boot, modelled so well.

Reminds me a bit of a kind of Italian Jim S-W...;)

Very nice work, and thanks for posting the link, Neil.

Interestingly, a couple of years ago when John F and I accompanied The Baron Harrap to the Houten show near Utrecht, we were placed as usual in the 'finescale' hall, and very nice it was, too. In this hall, was the only Italian P87 modeller in the world! Nice chap, very laid back, but a good modeller with a nicely emerging layout on display (still unfinished).
