Modelling on a £1200 table.
Hi, Nearly finished now bulkheads fixed in place (not as per intructions) Put all transfers on last night, did'nt bother giving the yellow ends a coat with Railmatch warning panel yellow, thought the Humbrol 44 matt lemon looked fine (bodger!) given it a coat of Railmatch satin varnish this afternoon and its drying nicely, I'll fabricate and fit cab handrails, wipers and finally glaze it when i get home from work tomorrow.... Ross...

That looks FANTASTIC Ross   . One question though is it for Phill as he wanted 063
You have done a really good job. The JLTRT kits even though are a little expensive :headbang: are a treat to work with.

I started a thread on that loco under the heading: Lima Class 33 Conversion, unfortunately as with most of my projects its ground to a halt at the moment but think I'll get on with it after Telford   CME bought one off me unfinished and minus the conversion kit but think he has got the kit now so maybe he will be starting his soon??? Mine is going to be green I think?? Possibly D6511 or D6520??? Ross...

Hi Ross,

the 25 looks great.

The 33 looks good as well. especially if it's a Lima! Will probably get one of the Heljan ones when they are introduced and then see what Brian Daniels says in the way of comparison with the JLTRT version. Living in South London in the late 50's, and not a million miles from Hither Green, 33s were a particular favourite so I might end up with more than one.

regards

Mike

Hi Ross

I'm toying with the idea of doing a green one too (GFYE), I've lost a lot of confidence in the Heljan stuff with the gear problems & the poorly matched motors that others have experienced & the numerous other faults that 00 gauge modellers have experienced. I would have got a Heljan next year but I think I will do another Lima , as I have another couple of them in the workshop

Yes I have been cutting chunks out of two of them, my free, green '33' with white cabs and small yellows etc. (that one required loads of work as it had been well 'played with' and had a smashed cabs yet worked out free - so...).

Ross, yours had had a lot of the time consuming work done on it by your good self   , I have filled in the slots under the cab doors, modifying the roof vents etc. etc. and I am still making up my mind whether or not to turn it into a post '66 loco or not

I have cut the battery boxes and fuel tanks off of the green 33 so that now needs lots of extra work so as to refit and detail, I have also added the extra pieces under the cab/fronts - dents yet to be included (still undecided about those) - I have also reworked and widened the bufferbeams as these locos are over wide, so I have compounded this - Lima - mistake so as to align the bufferbeams with the loco body etc.    Phots to follow, yet like you I got a little fed up with all of the whittling (and 12 Lima Mk1's  :headbang: ) and had moved back to my DJH 03 and we have been working in the garden over weekend etc...so the 33's are on the backburner for now   What I am aiming for is two models akin to Richard Dockerill's 33 (REM article      )- he started after me yet finished first    he thinks that I am mad to cut off the battery boxes etc..   lots of extra work....

I have two Nigel Stanley coversion kits (one bought second-hand yet untouched - bargain) and some MMP super-detail parts too.

Sounds interesting CME :D , but........... :pictures:.............I've always wanted to use that smiley

Hi Rob

It's got the new gears in but I've been too busy with the sector plate & terminus to run it properly yet

The best two will be the MMP and JLTRT kits for the 33's..
Are MMP still planning to produce a 33 kit ?

Phill [/quote:2b25xlqc]

You beat me to the question Phill - lets hope so

Yes I will Post something soon, I have few items I need to photograph, yet I am not all that comfortable with showing my methods of working as there are so many here who are such great modellers

I will get around to it though.

My modelling is far from exellent but i try and build to the best of my ability

I must agree that there are some Fantastic modellers on here and its always a pleasure to look at there threads.
But as regards to posting pics i will always post them because as far as i'm concerned its all about enjoying our hobby and if my work encourages others to try diferent things or just enjoy the pics, then i'm happy.
So to anyone out there that is'nt sure about posting pics of there work , POST away they will always be welcome on the forum and they might encourage others
