Ha!

I already have far more than I 'need', but at least so far they're all region specific, one of these would be a real wildcard!

The formula for number of engines I need is:

Add one to the number of engines I have

Or in the case of Minerva panniers

Add two to the number of engines I have...

Good formula. I have a friend here in Llandudno that must have a similar one, currently I have built 8o+ locos for him over the past 20 odd years. He's in his 80's now so things are slowing down now. He has run out of room to display them.

Hi again. Just finished the Zeppelin and is now ready for delivery. The only difficult part being the buffers. The method in the instructions I did not like at all. Breaking two drills in the drill press before giving up. Solution, drill a small hole in the end of the buffer shaft and solder a small length of wire into the hole. Slide spring along the shaft, insert into the buffer housing and bend wire up into the slot. Job done, quick easy. Works very well too. See last photo to explain what I mean.

Whose Scot is that Ken? The tender underframes look very simple. I am just building a JLTRT Stanier 4000 gall and there is a myriad of details for the scoop mechanism and brakes both in etch and brass castings.

One of my favourite kits, Gladiator and David Andrews. This particular one is the Gladiator which is identical to the DA one.

All going well with the tender body. The only issue I found is getting the coal hopper to fit. So that will need a bit of adjusting which is tomorrows problem.

I like to add as much of the soldered detailing to parts before assembling. This allows the parts to be soldered from the rear more. I dislike having solder showing and try to prevent that as much as possible.

OK Sorted the coal hopper with some chopping and filing finally obtaining a good fit. Then onwards to bend to shape the tender sides. I do this with Metal Smiths bending bars which are invaluable for this task.

Starting off like this.

My method of getting it lined up.

You can then get a perfect fit ready for soldering after first adding the handrails front & rear.

All ready for sobering in place.

The end result for todays work.

Hi all. The tender is now complete except for the raised front footplate, buffers and vac pipe. I am waiting to build the engine first to get the correct height for that.

Today I have started on the loco chassis. The centre axle is sprung in the usual way. No problems so far. Jolly good kits so they are.

Yesterday I took time out to do these wagons & vans for my layout. They are now awaiting lettering and fitting Dingham couplings

Hi again. Playing around with my rolling stock on the WB this morning but got a little more done on the Scott chassis this afternoon.

The coupling rods were drilled out for their bushes and were a snug fit and amazingly the chassis rolled along with a gentle push. How I wish this would happen with every build. Mostly there is a slight tight spot to ease out.

Here she is ready to make up the valve gear.

Moving on with the body, I am now down to the detailing. It has been decided not to add the boiler bands until it has been painted. Because they are very thin looking on the loco just the lining tape will be fine. It has been very successful in the past with my own painter.

Just realised this build is in the wrong section:mad:. Ive started so I guess I will finish it on this thread.
