Always considered to be part of the SE group but if you want to try and set up a separate group for Kent then go for it. Please, however, keep the committee in the loop.

If you are considering a Kent group, would it be based towards the east or West of the County?
Towards the West would encourage Sussex members to attend.

This is our problem. Kent is quite large, and SEAG meetings are generally held t'other side of that London.

Like John, I live in the Medway Towns. Getting to Tonbridge from here is not trivial, whereas getting to the likes of Dover, Ashford, or Canterbury is pretty easy. If members are spread widely across the county, it makes meeting in our homes a problem.

Best Beloved and I used to exhibit fairly frequently at the Folkestone and District MRC show. It is held in the Leas Cliff Hall, overlooking the Channel. On a clear day, you can see France.

The club frequently invited their opposite number from over the sea to bring a layout. Despite having to pack up and get to the ferry at the end of a weekend, we'd often joke the French club folks would be home before we were. This was a time before the M20 was joined up, and part of the journey back to Chatham involved crawling along the A20 amongst all the foreign trucks.

Even now, Dover and Folkestone are an hour or so from the Medway Towns. Despite being geographically closer, it takes about as long to get to Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells.

Now, I'm all for a Kent group, but we need to see some numbers and decide where, logistically speaking, to meet.

Thinking that if there is nothing in the S7 Constitution which requires a S7 Kent Area Group to be in Kent... has the aforesaid area group had an inaugural meeting recently albeit in Hampshire?

Who is going to do the contacting of all the group members who live within, say, 40 miles of Maidstone and would they like an up-to-date list? LOL!! If the NE Group have their first meeting at Shildon, maybe you would like Leeds (Castle that is)!
