Phew !! I'm glad about that mate. I think i can just about get my head round " other colours " on HYDRAULICS ;D, because they are the best loco's :drool: :drool: but english electrics and especially hoovers :headbang: :vista: :vista: , i dont think i would have recovered from that. Glad you had a good day,

C'mon ladies, stop fighting... ::) ;)

We all know Westerns looked good in any of the liveries they carried, and so did the other hydraulics, so any layout cannot help but be enhanced by the appearance of a Hydraulic on it, whatever it's colour. :thumbs:
Now pack in the squabbling.  :vista: Save that for Diesel Electrics, which should only ever be done in BLUE, by Law, unless they're non-British prototypes, in which case the preferred scheme should be White and Red. :)) 8)

your being very contentious Jordan where were you when this whole Maroon thingy raised its head in the first place I feel let down by all true BFYE boyo's sad and dejected to think that beautiful loco's were disfigured by hideous colour schemes when they first came out even though they were only practicing painting we all know there is only 2 colours (not including the underframe)any way what were those other shades of BR blue you mentioned

Eh?  Since when did the SP paint anything red and white?  Red and grey, yes; red and orange, yes; even red and black but red and white...???  :headbang:

Oh hang on.  :scratch: Nope - thought I had it for a moment there...  :))

Don't you complicate this any further than it already is there is only one true colour blue with differing shades and tints giving subtle changes in the look and the visible spectrum seen by the looker

It was precisely because the SP painted their locos Red & Grey that the SOO LINE repainted it's locos Red & White...!!! the reason being:- look at any monochrome photo of a Red/Grey SP loco and spot the difference between the colors :eek: :headbang: ... they are almost the same shade of grey!!! No mistaking the shades on a Soo engine :scratch: :drool: :bowdown: :thumbs:

Anyway we must stop this as poor ol' Iploffy is having a nervous breakdown just at the mere hint that other Railway colours besides BR Blue are available; he'll collapse completely if he realises that other Countries also have trains as well, and that some of us are actually interested in them... :))

Maybe this'll help him feel a bit better; my latest area of interest Stateside - some nice BLUE engines of Progressive Rail, Inc;...

They don't have yellow ends, of course, since they have retina-searing headlights and ear-splitting air-horns to do the warning, instead of a patch of yellow paint.... ::) ;D ;)

Just to up the ante - I was perusing some 1960's Railway Modellers this morning (as you do) when I came upon a piece about the new Westerns - colour? ....... sand!  ;D

I'll creep back into me corner now - move over Jordan.

Well it is if you model the summer of 1970  ;D :scratch:.........although I haven't set a definite date for my line (I'm thinking summer of 69,70 or 71)as the four main Hydraulic class's were still in action then  8) 8) 8)
