Thanks very much for the offer Chris, but as of today I'm happy to say its ready for going up to the printers:)

No Delabole Presflos I'm afraid, shots tend to be nostalgic "whole setting" types but there are nonetheless some good rolling stock shots including what I think are a couple of relative rarities.

I'll certainly be after a copy when it hits the shelves.

Really sorry to ask this Simon, but reading back through the 80 pages of this thread I can see that the ballast was held down with just SBR and nothing else. But what I can't find is what holds the track down?

Initially I Gripfixed the track down, but I found in doing this that it was very hard to get levels right. More recently I have "spot glued" using epoxy resin, letting the track "float" in between adjusted for lateral and top alignment, before adding and shaping the ballast and then flooding with SBR to set the whole formation down and in place.

It's a right faff, but when you get it right very satisfying.

Having cant added is a significant complication, but really makes the track and trains on it look good - tracks without it just don't look right to me.

Despite early rain, the track clearing gangs got out on the line this morning for a rather special visitor.

Chris Lepper's second G1 creation, seen earlier on this thread running trials "in the brass" but today fully painted and lined by Dennis Lepper and with works plates attached. Still awaiting its name "Arundel", it is a very beautiful thing.

Seen hauling Dave Easto's latest creation, a very convincing GUV, completely scratchbuilt in Plastikard. The ventilators need to sit a bit lower and glazing to go in plus lettering, but it already looks very very good…

The T9 was run next, with D6319 finishing the "journey through the years"

Another splendid day in the garden, thank you to Chris, Dennis and Dave for huge creative input, much inspiration and excellent company too.

And halted at the signal. Finial missing - those Western Region boys just don't care…

Dave came around again last Monday, bringing his completed GUV:)

Raintrain4.jpg

The weather deteriorated throughout the day..

And the French railcar is running impeccably, even quand il pleut…
Raintrain3.jpg

We didn't really intend to run in the rain, and a fair bit of drying off and wheel derusting was required at the end of running, but it all worked perfectly despite the presence of water on the rail head.

The Class 22 threw a tapered pin from its trailing bogie, which I found in the "four foot" after crawling around the line, but the whereabouts of its windscreen wiper remains a mystery:p

Good news, while doing some garden clearance I find that the yard point lever mechanism now functions perfectly, the rail staying positively in position on both "throws".

Leverout.jpg

I think this is because the oxidation of the working surfaces (brass) resulting from being left out in the garden has added a useful bit of friction to the system.

I also cleared around the hut and re-made the path in stone dust, you can also see the overgrown buffer stop in this picture.

There may be some running later in the week…
