DCC Lionheart Pannier sound problem

I've been happily adjusting sound volumes on my Zimo chipped locos and was adjusting levels on the pannier when I found F6, which previously sounded a whistle variation suddenly produced nothing at all. Whether I inadvertently pressed another button with an adjacent resting finger at the same time or not I have no idea but whilst going through the stages of adjusting CVs, after saving the volume level adjustment I'd made on F6 (CV529), that's when all went very quiet on that setting.

The rest of the sounds I adjusted are absolutely fine - just this one whistle that's now disappeared completely. I tried again, increasing the volume of CV529 to 200 just to see if I'd somehow zeroed it in error but still no sound at all. Could I have somehow accidentally remapped it? I understood it wasn't possible to delete a sound file by accident when adjusting CVs but that's how it seems.

I figured my only option was to revert back to 'as bought' settings so set CV8 to 8 but that had no affect at all - it didn't carry out the instruction. I tried CV008 setting its value to 008, thinking that it may require 3 digit numbers rather than single ones but still nothing changed. (I expected the loco now to be the default address 003 and I'd need to change it to the cabside number I've been using and then redo all the individual volume levels etc etc).

I'm taking it to Telford next weekend so a well known programmer can take it away to play with it and hopefully restore everything, but in the meantime I'm a bit flummoxed as to what's happened. Any ideas anyone? I'd just like to know what I may have done and therefore what to possibly avoid doing the next time I need to adjust sound levels. Any help would be much appreciated. I'm using the NCE Powercab.

It might be worth posting on RMWeb as a certain Pauliebanger might be able to proffer advice re Zimo - DCC sound forum

Hi Chuffer

When you were altering the volume was it 'on the main' or via a decoder programmer such as SPROG?

I have no experience of Zimo sound decoders but it appears you've either muted the individual sound profile or deactivated it from the F6 sound slot or re-mapped it to a different function number.

Was the Zimo decoder factory fitted by Lionheart? If so then I would refer to the operating manual to see what value needs to be keyed into CV8 as each manufacturer with a factory fitted Zimo decoder e.g. Roco, Hag, etc have their unique CV set. Lionheart may have it's own unique CV set.

You may have to enter Lionheart's unique active CV set into CV8 e.g. Roco active CV reset CV8 = 10 , HAG active CV reset CV8 =11, etc.

Reading Zimo's decoder manual...
CV8 = 8 is the NMRA standard 'hard reset' and for OEM cases where the Zimo decoder was fitted by the manufacturer and the correct CV set was active at the time.
CV8 = 0 (Zimo command) resets all CVs to the default values as listed in the operating manual regardless of any previously active CV sets.

I'll be on the Tech Committee stand at Telford with my SPROG decoder programmer if you want the decoder CVs read.

Yes it was On The Main. I wonder how to 'undo' those possibilities you suggest?

Factory fitted by Lionheart and Paul Chetter posted ages ago on RMWeb advising that setting CV8 to 8 would reset everything to ' as bought' status. I've PM 'd him on that site but so far had no response, which is why I raised the issue here. He may be on holiday.

I'll make myself known to you at Telford.
