7mm Little Loco is hiding its light under a bush...

I am very surprised that there has been no announcement here given the willingness of Peeps to post details of other 7mm RTR offerings - so I am posting to redress the imbalance.

First - and this is for real - the Little Loco Company (LLC in this post) has stated publically that all models from now on are going to be available for 0-FS and S7 at the point of order with no price premium for S7 versions. LLC has achieved this by creating a bogie design which can accomodate both wheelset options.

Second - as with the wheelsets, from now on every LLC model is DCC capable at point of order with sound as a factory option.

As if those two specification details are not enough the model is a dream in regards to prototype features and use of technology.

So where can you read about all of this? Here which is the LLC announcement on RMWeb.

I shall be putting my money down for one for our Forest of Dean layout so as to reproduce workings of the class into Marsh Sidings.

regards, Graham

Not on my shopping list nor even in my dreams, (wrong era) but I read the announcement with great interest. It appears to be an outstanding model, with some exquisite features, and some real though has gone into it. I wish them well with this venture, and hope it sets the benchmark for future RTR.

Looks very nice, just a pity those who don't 'do' GWR/Western Region are still being ignored, first in steam and now in 'top of the range' RTR diesels.

Sorry, it's just me being a grumpy od man :(, I'm allowed to at my age.

In essence I agree with your sentiment. However, LLC already make an Eastern Region loco, and will be producing a Class 50 in due course. (Yeah, I know the 50s also lived on the Western Region, but they also got painted in Network South East livery.)

I did think the NBL Type 2 an interesting choice, since there's already a JLTRT kit for it out there. Then again, much as we followers of other lines may dislike it, things Western have a significant following and it often pays to follow the money. I only need to survey the shelves of commissioned models waiting my soldering iron time to see that. ;)

I think there is some slight unwarranted criticism going on here, if people have been following Steve's postings on LLC FB page you will have read his first intention was to build the D61xx in original ER condition but it would have meant a slightly longer and more expensive tool for which funds could not be stretched. So he turned to the D63xx which I believe is a scale 5 feet shorter. He has also mentioned that a large part of what has been done with this loco can be transferred across to other classes. I take this to mean the D61xx and the D6xx, I might be wrong.
LLC is going from strength to strength, starting with the D82xx, then the Ruston 48DS and the class 50. He has made plain his desire to try and take the market to a higher level of quality and moreover to have as much as possible made in the U.K. He has also hinted that steam is in the pipeline and that he still is primary interested in making ER models.
To my mind he and the others working with him are to highly commended for their work so far and I'm sure the new models will be classics, I saw the 48DS last year and it is a highly detailed and delightful model. Can we not take the path of chucking sour grapes at a young company just starting out which is promising ( and seemingly is going to achieve ) so much ?

I am sorry if some people feel that this is "unwarranted criticism" or "chucking sour grapes", but as someone who does not have the 'benefit' of FB (which I presume to be Facebook) then I do not know what 'his' plans are so I can only go on what is made public via WT or links to other forums.

Perhaps my observations are best kept to myself, in fact, perhaps I should not be posting on WT at all.

I find the use of Face Book by companies & organisations annoying as often if you don't have a FB account you cannot login & see the content. BBC please take note.

As for Little loco Company, my main interest was that Steve took over kits from Right Price for BR class 03 & 04 shunters, sadly I missed out on the reissued kits as I didn't pay attention to my email :( and missed when Steve emailed to say my kits were ready. I bought one of the class 15 diesels as much to support LLC has having a nice British Rail Easter Region model.

Future products look very promising, personally I was hoping for a type 2 Sulzer BR or BRCW but that was not to be, but the class 22 looks to be a fine product, not my area of interest, but anyone new entering the British outline 7mm market place with decent product has to be commended.

A shame that Steve no longer posts, on WT.

Just a thought: will the S7G TLO be doing a write-up on this for the benefit of our readers? :)

I seem to caused a few ripples and might have brought a member to withdraw from WT so perhaps a few words. I didn't try and be confrontational and am sorry if it came over like that as it wasn't intended to be, I will admit I was trying to set the record straight as I see it from my viewpoint who has nothing to do with LLC apart from being a satisfied customer.

I realise that not all are on Facebook through one reason or another but it does seem to be the place where many groups from preservation to modelling manufacture now reach the public. LLC does have a presence on Rmweb and that pretty much has the same information as the FB page, sometimes in front or sometimes behind. We can all wish that those we are interested in reach out to us through our preferred method but with ever more different platforms of social media ( and I include the likes of Western Thunder in that ) available then that's going to be more problematic for small manufacturers/groups who have only so much time available for communication and will probably use the simplest and the ones which will reach the most of their target audience. I think that's just the way it is. I personally just use FB to follow my Railway interests and neither post photos of my dinner or where in the globe I am now and it seems to work for me !

By the way don't forget that the GE section had an allocation of what became class 24 s in their early days and LLC promises an ER bias ! Who knows ?
