Loco numbers below the fall plate

Hi, question for a GW expert please.
I noticed a model recently of a GW tender loco and it's number was repeated in small white characters on the rhs below the fall plate. It would probably only be seen during loco overhaul when the tender was removed. Was this std GW practice, were the numbers in white and what was the font size please?
Many thanks in advance.
Phil.

What you describe can be seen on engines outside A-shop, presumably on the way in for overhaul. Standard practice, probably. In white, that is my view as well. No idea on font or point size.

Would it be similar in style and size to the depot code painted up the front of the loco?

If it's on it's way in for overhaul it might well be for identification during strip down and refurbishment. When we took bits of warship apart we went round with a tin of paint and a brush and marked it all up, so that when we took it apart and sent it to the shop, they could identify it, repair it and send it back to the right boat, far better than tie on labels that have a habit of going missing.

Thanks for the replies. The font size looks similar to the size on the front buffer beam, maybe a bit smaller. I am thinking it may have been applied for shop procedure and painted over when out shopped.
