7mm Loose Ends

I built a couple of NQLTRT GUVs a few years back and certainly cursed the underframing aspects of the builds, but they turned out ok in the end - they both went to satisfied buyers.

Seems as if I should have kept hold of them.

Inside framed vertical planked Syphon G is one parcels vehicle we could do with in the larger scales ........strange that manufacturers duplicate stuff like Guv's when there are obvious gaps in the market

Phill - After much ear bending from me, Chris Hillier (Hurn Models), is working on a kit for the diagram 062 Siphon G, which has vertical planks and sliding louvres on the lower bodysides. They lasted well into the BR blue era.

Well both the Diag. 062 & 033 vehicles were in the PWP range - I don't know if they ended up with ABS Models or Peter Beasant.

Both will again feature in our new range of Siphons & Monsters for release next year.

Apparently, the Siphon G shares the same heavy duty bogies as the Hawksworth Full Brake, so they must be on Chris's list of things to do. I believe someone other than Chris does the pattern making for these though, which might explain why they're not yet available.

Yes - I know. Philip Elverd made the master, so its got to be A1+. However, I'm not quite sure why the whole sideframe needs casting. Just the axleboxes & possibly the springs/centre detail. Anyway if he can't cast it we could certainly it for him. We've never encountered anything of Philip's that is uncastable yet - but thats only since 1986 mind.

It was a foggy old morning so i did this... removing the casting sprues and reverse engineering the kits into component parts

I use a slitting disc, but the discs can shatter so were one of these. it also stops you getting a mouthful of carborundum dust

After lunch the sun was out so..... a quick 45 miles in some pleasant autumn sun

Assembling 9 coaches is a bit of a slog so I started checking some of the bodies to remind me where i am heading:)

I have yet to decide what colour to paint them:confused: ....Maroon would cover a good time period, but its a bit LMS for me:cool:

We went to Toys r Us today and look what daddy came back with...
this has amused me this evening whilst on holiday

there is no chance of Sealink livery  if I had the time/money of the more 'modern' liveries NSE or inter city would tickle my fancy.

I agree that NSE would be very nice indeed, particularly with an NSE 50 upfront :)

Cheers
