7mm LT45029 - Inspection Saloon DM45029 'as was'

After goig into Eastleigh Works nearly ten years ago as this

LU Inspection Saloon in Ruislip depot

has emerged as this

LT45029 Kensington (Olympia)

and having built three models of the original, I now fancy doing the latest version.

The main problem as I see it is the revised ETH equipment looks as if there has been a major 'modernisation' and the castings that I have in stock may not be adaptable. Does anyone have photos and/or drawings of the latest version that I could assess what might be involved in producing the revised version.

It's good to see the sensitive application of heritage, with the number on the vehicle end, the name and the use of the London transporT logo, although the livery is perhaps a bit BR 1965. At the risk of taking this thread off piste does anyone know what this vehicle is to be used for? Perhaps a support coach for Sarah Siddons?

I wonder if this indicates a softening of TFL attitudes towards heritage - perhaps we'll yet see a resurrection of the "Steam on the Met" weekends.:D

Hi Brian,

It might be that my worries over the ETH are not as bad as I thought. In response to my similar posting 'over there' it has been stated that the 'socket' immediately below the window is a control jumper socket and as such, suggests to me that it might be for when this vehicle is coupled to the 4TC unit that LT also have.

Another point that I noticed is that all of the roof vents and also those over the doors have been removed, so how does the vehicle get any fresh air?

Interesting thought - the opening of Watford (Met) in 1925 will it's centenary in 2025 - providing the Croxley Link does not come to fruition!

It's a shame it wasn't finished in T stock maroon (or surface or tube stock red). I see the vehicle is named '17 Florence Nightingale'.

Mike,

I would agree, Standard ETH, MU socket below window & another socket on the left, plus a 'control' air pipe next to the train pipe

Thanks for the confirmation of the sockets. I have discovered that PR Model Railway Products do the MU set and I already have an ETH set so that would seem to cover the ends, now to sort out what is underneath!

Hi Larry,

glad you put the inverted commas in, as none of them are of D2046 origin, but they always make good 'one coach trains' and are therefore ideal for small O Gauge layouts.

Two of mine for the price of one.

plus DM45029 in EWS livery well before it arrived at Eastleigh
