Mark Meeting. 18th Oct.2014.

A week and a bit to go and I was wondering if anybody else is going down to this meeting.
I'm taking what, so far, exists of Bow Creek :)).
Unfortunately time and the day job has thwarted all attempts to get anything like a layout together to be a serious contender for the Challenge 33 so it's down to bare baseboards and some mock ups.
It'll be a long day for me starting out at 4.30 am.
Looking forward to catching up.

I'm planning on being there.

I've been to Rob T.'s get-together in deepest darkest Didcot country three times now, but I've not to Mark before so I'm really looking forward to the day

From the S7 Newsletter:
Directions to Mark Village Hall from Junction 22 on the M5 Motorway
• Take Exit 22 (Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge) off the M5. From whichever direction you come, this exit takes you to a roundabout on the A38 (the Bristol Road) 200 yards west of the motorway.
• Take the first exit off this roundabout, sign-posted Bridgewater, Highbridge and Wedmore.
• After 200 yards, take the first left turn (Burnham Moor Lane) sign-posted Mark and Wedmore.
• Stay on Burnham Moor Lane for 1.4 miles until you reach a T-junction with a grass island in the middle. Turn left here onto the B3139, signposted Wedmore and Mark.
• After 1.75 miles the B3139 does a sharp (90 degrees) left-hand bend. Stay on the B3139.
• After the bend, look out for the “White Horse” pub on the left hand side (150 yards after the bend).
  • Immediately after the “White Horse” pub, turn left, into Vole Road.
  • After 150 yards, turn right into the grounds of the “Mark Village Hall” indicated by a varnished wooden sign with white lettering.

I'll be there and will have the 37 in a running condition, with any luck. I have a few tweaks to do over the next few days, but it should be possible.

Lunch (at least as currently planned) will be cold ham, cheese, coleslaw salad, tomatoes etc, with cake to follow. Please let me know well if you have any particular dietary requirements. Unfortunately I can't attend this year. I'm a bit busy preparing for this: http://expong.org - that's my PLR in the photo, and it will be it's only ever outing.

Please pass on my apologies especially to John Day who I know is not online.

I had an enjoyable day running this one up and down the A.R.S.E, courtesy of Simon T and she behaved almost faultlessly running all over the layout. I do have a video, to show an S7 loco moving on an S7 layout, but I don't want to post it for two reasons:
1. I can't remember my YouTube account details
2. It's a bit crap.

Others, who are better at that kind of thing, have taken some video though, so I'm hoping that one will appear at some point.

To say I'm pleased is a bit of an understatement  Up to now it's only run about 6 inches in either direction, so it was good to see that it can go a bit further than that without breaking. It seemed to be quite excited too - it was puckering up for a kiss with a Sentinel at one point :)

It was a nice, relaxed, day as usual, and it was nice to chat to several Thunderers over the course of the day.

(Apologies for the crap phone pictures, it was all I had - I really was woefully prepared.)
