It's just something I spotted in CPC I thought I'd give it a try given the price.
ROLSON TOOLS - 24252 - SHARPENING BLADE, MINI DIAMOND | CPC UK

I hold the drill in a pin chuck and then use the plate like a file to dress the tip so I get the flank(?) cutting edge on both sides so that the chisel point looks about in the middle and then tip it to one side to make a little bit of a clearance angle behind the cutting edge.

although more expensive versions are available if required!!

Very nice! Although what are the plans for the painting? or is that someone else's problem? Will there be any copper showing and if so is it maskol first and remove or just paint it all and polish the pipework later?

Hi Adrian,

Not sure yet. It will be my problem. I'd like to see if I can get something that will properly blacken white metal, and leave the copper untouched. I suspect that I won't be able to, in which case I will probably do as I did on the Nelson....paint it all including using metallic paints. In normal circumstances, lost in the recesses of the cab and hidden by crew, it's not an issue. Here's the Nelson which is all paint.

I've found painting in Clostermann black and then washing off with thinners on a fine brush works as well, the dilute paint acts as a wash and gets or remains in the cracks and creases and overall gives a more gritty smeared used finish, rather than pure factory clean polished.

Well done Cliff!

After the show at Wolverhampton, packing, unpacking and catching up with work, I have finally got back to the Princess Coronation and finished off the cab.

The fall plates were modified. They are designed with tabs that fold down and engage in slots in the floor. I didn't see the tabs surviving long-term as I felt they would break off sooner or later on the half-etch fold line, and I wanted to retain the fall plates to stop them falling out. To this end, I broke off the tabs, and soldered new ones - nickel silver bent at 90 degrees - in their place. A strip of scrap etch was then soldered across the tabs on the underside....

The doors work and have a fair amount of hinge and latch details.

The one part I replaced is the little windcreen brackets on either side between the cab windows. In the kit this was a single etched piece. I prefer the Hobbyhorse Developments screen which is properly articulated and has a groove in for some glazing material.

I've just got to screw the backhead in and it's then onto the injector and under-footplate plumbing.

I hope they are not to I will need some more of them to.
Maybe the website doesn't show all the stock they hold though they might have a reserve stock that they take to shows.
