1/32 Mawddwy Railway Carriage

Some time ago I decided I wanted to try out big toys to see what all the fuss was about. I also fancied a go at modelling the Mawddwy Railway's carriage No. 1, an ex LNWR jobbie from the primordial soup of the early railways. There were a couple of stunning photos of this gorgeous creature in the Oakwood Press book of the line but no dimensions. Through the good offices of young Mr Cook a dimensioned photo soon whizzed my way over the interweb; and there the story ended for some while.

This afternoon an hour on the pc overlaying a drawing on top of the photo and printing out the resulting image (and its mirror) gave me a start in visualising what it might look like. Here's the quick card mock up being appraised by Captain Flashman (11th Hussars - retired).

Brief update: The cardboard contraption will be winging its way to Bath in the morning post from mid-Wales. Not having anything remotely 1/32 to check the carriage against, Simon has volunteered to cast an eye over it just to make sure I've not dropped an almighty goolie with my scale and dimensional calculations. Fortune and design have coincided to bestow the carriage mock up with a pop-up format; I'm pleased to report it'll fit in a standard sized envelope.
