    Excellent modelling.
I hope you'll have a vaping system with some acetic acid for that 4D modelling effect.

I like the idea but then I can see the front curtain needing to be waterproof with all the drooling at the smell, by the audience:D

A bit of aging on the roof and a chimney for the fryers has arrived.

Love the fish bar, how did you get the groundwork looks superb, how did you get the worn tarmac effects?

The rough surface to the '10 foot' down the side of the fish shop (and the surface of the builders yard) were created from the dust residue left over form the pellets used in a pellet boiler heating system. Sprinkled over a glue or wet paint base and then sealed with hairspray or paint it can be manipulated into a pleasing rough but used surface.

It seems to have taken forever, but after a quick bit of fettling the chip shop has finally gained a typical chimney for its fryers.

Plus a couple of old drums as bins for the rubbish.

The side tenfoot is also looking to be the most suitable home for the old and battered Ford van which has already been created.

Whereas the derelict garden still makes for suitable parking for the shop owners much newer scooter (still mulling an upgrade to a motorcycle on this!)

Further developments as the next structures on the street are trialled.
They will need bedding in properly once finished though.
We keep adding a few smaller details as we go along to so as to show how the scene can be brought to life.

Just needs the odd lamp post or two, to finish it!

Very nice, could be a scene modeled straight from a photo.

Quite right - they are o the list (ex gas posts converted to electricity). Hull had its own distinct design with the City's 3 Crowns symbol cast into it. Hopefully we can get one scanned at some point (though for now we are happy to leave them off the frontage as we are bound to impale ourselves on them whilst working on the rest of the scenics).

A few other items of street furniature are also on the list - electrical junction boxes for instance.

In place but not yet bedded in the slightly past their best shops are now ready to add to the layout.
You can see here how they work with the street scene so far.
Shop frontages from differing decades but each showing an air of neglect.

Out of curiosity with the prefab chip shop replacing a bombed out building would there more shattered panes in the greenhouse and shrapnel damage to wall on the building next door?

Depends on how the building came to be destroyed I guess. The arrangement on the model was inspired by several photos of ex bomb site properties.

Although Hull's architecture took a thorough pasting by explosives in the war (and a much larger one from the planners in the 50's & 60's), just as many buildings (and upper stories only in some cases) were damaged or lost in fires started by incendiary devices or similar.

Many damaged buildings were still to be seen into the 1980's and indeed the façade of a bombed cinema (squeezed in between to seeming undamaged neighbouring buildings) still exists on one of the main roads to this day.

Now bedded into the layout to extend the scene around the fish shop.

Perhaps not so visible without the interior lighting working. But each shop has full interior detail (even behind the window displays)

With the finishing and installation of this group it will be onto the next range of buildings up the street next (which includes both an undertakers and a barbers shop!).

Its still getting there with a lot going on behind the scenes...…..such as this...….

Which is the warehouse façade which fronts the road by the disused level crossing. We couldn't get absolute details of this long gone building that inspired this so the model owes more to the 'Tonks' building in Scarborough!.

Thoughts are also turning to the factory buildings that will form the backdrop of the entire length of the layout.
I'm thinking that I might have consider acquiring some of Brush's Intentio products in my near future!;):D

Just out of interest,is the warehouse shell all made out of ply;and if so, what have you used to bond the plasticard to it with?.

    Like the etch details btw.
