A link sent to me today by a friend. Its the moving of a new power station transformer by rail to Blaenau Ffestiniog Wales (1962) and includes all the necessary - railways, scenery, big lorries and quintessential British accented voice overs.
Well worth sitting down with a cuppa and viewing.

I have a lasting childhood memory of a transformer being moved through Wembley High Street on a Saturday, probably about 65 years ago. It had two, or maybe three of the Pickford tractors on the front and another on the back. At that time it was one of the most impressive things I had seen - in fact it remains so.

A very few years later I received the Matchbox Toys Pickfords tractor and low loader set which I still have, together with original box, and it gave me endless hours of enjoyment.

I recall as a 7 year old cycling up the village to the 'big' road to see a transformer which had slid off the side of a Crane float trailer pulled and pushed by a pair of Scammells.

Many hours were spent the following day watching the gang nail anchor plates to the road surface and using the trucks' winches one at each end to re-load it :):):)
